Seriously, this is pretty deplorable from Kobo, considering the numerous bugs on the KA1. It does show the problems are rather serious if they keep pushing the update's release. |

Don't take the reply from some customer support guy so seriously. I think this or next week would be good estimate.

Kobo have NEVER in my memory publicly announced an official release date for a new firmware. So not withstanding the fact that it appears that more than one customer service rep supplied one (and as I said when the 1st report of a date came up), I reaaallllllyyyyy doubt that it was anything more than a rep trying to get a good feedback rating from the caller. I have no idea what all Kobo is doing with this firmware or what the delay in getting it out is. And yes it sucks for people who are seeing massive drain, but it's not happening for everyone (I've had it once in the last month) so tracking it down could be the problem. Or maybe figuring out how to fix that and not break something else. THAT'S why they don't publish a release date.

The fact that we are talking about a necessary bugfix update does make any delays unacceptable. But I guess that those who held on to those devices that weren't working as advertised on the vague promise of easy fixes are equally to blame... Last edited by johnnyb; 10-05-2016 at 02:37 AM. |

Hi, maybe it's already said but I solved my battery drain problem so I hope these lines could be useful for someone with problems.

When I received the ereader I updated it via WiFi and I suffer the battery drain problem for some days; even the ereader shutted down 3-4 times when I was reading a book and battery level was about 50%. I decided to reset to factory defaults(plug the device to the usb and press the button form 20 seccs) and I updated the device using Kobo Desktop on my PC; when I did that, the problem of battery was solved. Anyway, I'm still waiting the new firmware version to see if page turn speed is improved. I'm loved with this screen size ! Can't use my kindle anymore. Best regards |

Yes the screen size is perfect, I can't believe how natural it feels. I can't see myself going back to buying a premium kindle unless they release an 8 inch eink reader.

It looks like I've finally resolved the battery issue, that conf file edit was the trick. The battery only went down by 1% overnight. They still need to get that update out ASAP. Seriously. I also look forward to having the sleep cover issue resolved some time later. |

I wish folks would just chill out over the release date of an upgrade. It will come when it comes; rest assured that when the first MR client with an Aura One gets it, it will be posted about here ad nauseum.

And the longer it takes, the more bugs will be fixed. Yesterday for instance an issue with hidden WiFi networks was resolved. |
