As well as the vagaries of the Kobo ordering system you also don't know where it in the world it is being dispatched from - so you could get clobbered with Custom fee''s, Vat fee''s and Royal Mail handling charges as well.

Ah I wondered why Tesco's were only showing cases. Maybe they had far too many returns on Kobo's. Yeah that was my concern too ordering from Kobo. My guess is they are shipping from Canada which means you'll get hit by about £12 customs fee from Parcel Force for processing the Customs Duty and 20% on top of the price. Unless they are shipping from UK and using something like WH Smiths to fulfill orders? Kobo's website does say £189.99 VAT included, but if it's shipping from Canada that could be interesting if you end up paying double VAT. I would hope that they fulfill orders from somewhere in the UK. |

I think they are just not selling the quantities that they need to. Same for WH Smith''s - they are not going to devote space to it in store or in the warehouse if they are not selling the quantity of units. What doesn't help is that even when WH Smith's had the big play displays the staff knew little to nothing about them - I remember when I bought my H20 I knew more about it before seeing it than the staff did. And there is no promotion over here of the Kobo''s - so unless you do serious research before buying, most people are going to head straight to Amazon.

Ordering from Chapters to the UK would cost roughly £188.£199 This includes shipping, a 3% conversion fee and 20% VAT added. But then, I cannot be 100% sure I did it correctly. But even still, it's not bad. If I did it wrong, chances are it's on the high side.

Also factor in if you have a problem with it and need to exchange it/send it back!

Ideally I'd prefer to order from Amazon, they do stock some Kobo's but not the Aura One yet. They have a no quibble return policy.

It looks as if all the devices destined for the UK overshot and landed in France, Netherlands etc.
