@Kovid - I noticed this change in the pipeline ==>> Allow reading more image formats as covers Will this include TIFF files? If it does, perhaps the image type list could be user configurable, exclusions via a tweak would be best for me. Some of the 'books' in my _Main library have a large multi-page Baseline TIFF file containing one or more diagrams. Comic book formats are not an option, firstly because some of the books already have a CBZ file, and some of the TIFFs can only viewed effectively with Fast Image Viewer or something similar. And for my _Media library, I've been thinking of migrating the image urls I currently have in custom comments to multi-page TIFFs. This would overcome the annoyance of having the images flash up as 'tooltips' in the book list, and it would move the images into the library folder - which is arguably where they belong. Again comic book formats are not an option, in this case many of the books already have a CBZ. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 09-04-2016 at 08:15 PM. |

Yes (TIFF was the original motivator). They will be converted to JPEG and added as cover.jpg ... There is no tweak currently. But a tweak to configure what drag-and-drop files count as covers would probably be good to have even without this change. Last edited by eschwartz; 09-04-2016 at 09:13 PM. |

You can add JPGs as an ebook format in calibre, assuming you use the Add Format dialog. Likewise, your TIFFs are safe -- but new drag-and-drops would assume you mean to add it as a cover. |

I can certainly add a tweak to exclude some formats from what DnD considers to be covers. Open a ticket for it so I dont forget.

Putting my multiple book related images into a multi-page TIFF works a treat. Firstly it eliminates this Annoyance It puts the images inside the book folder, lets me view the images in a proper TIFF viewer (VLIV), from the GUI and the server, it's a easy to append another image to an existing TIFF with Irfan View (or Imagemagik), and I can deal with the TIFFs just like any other non-ebook format file.
