KA1, (for home), and PW3, (for travel), sounds like a dream combination and for the relatively small outlay for the PW3 I would consider it a good investment.

The reviewer says he had no problem with the narrow borders and big hands and never turned pages accidentally, and I understood when he later complained that the slight level difference with the screen meant dust and crumbs accumulated in the corners. He also says that the borders show some finger traces, but nothing as annoying as the H2O (I had to buy a skin for my H2O). I was surprised that with 8 GB only 6.72 were available, while with my Glo HD' 4 GB, there are 3.23 available. Regarding the software, apparently some dictionaries have improved, and there are a number of modifications. He says the keyboard and note taking are better.

The confusion stems from the fact that they waterproofed the H2O by making it water tight, whereas with the One they chose to make the electronics (mainly the port, I'm guessing) water resistant, so there is no need for a port cover. Quote:
If they are really using RGB LEDs, maybe some clever dev can create a hack to adjust the light to any color we want

4GB = 4'000'000'000 Byte = 3.73GiB minus 0.5GiB is 3.2.. If you upgrade any Kobo internal microsd to 8GB it should be no different Last edited by frostschutz; 08-23-2016 at 01:02 PM.

"Die Elektronik wird jedoch durch eine spezielle Nanobeschichtung vor Wasserschäden geschützt." The electronics are proofed against water damages by a special nanocoating. As has been explained before, water is able to get into the shell of the device but the electronics live in a kind of waterproof bubble inside the shell. Which means you'd have to make sure the USB port is dry before you connect it after the device took a dive. But that's it.

So do yourself a favour and don't add to it.

So... if this device does not need to be sealed to stay waterproof, shouldn't you be able to open it and change the microSD?

1) JSWolf did not specify 'tiny pocket', I've got jacket pockets which fit the Kobo H2O very comfortably. JSWolf has, in the past, said you shouldn't put an ereader in your pocket. 2) And no one said anyone said that. However JSWolf has repeated the same thing about it not fitting into a pocket as a feature, it got a bit tiring. Especially since you CAN fit it into most of the pockets that would fit the Kobo HD and the Kobo H20 which are arguably the predecessors to the Kobo One. 3) Don't put words into my mouth, at no point did I say it was a bad design to increase the size of the device. Nor did I say that Kobo should have considered making the device slimmer so that it could fit in pockets. What I said was that the device not fitting into a pocket was a good feature for JSWolf, but that others were not going to share that view. Which implies that's why Kobo isn't bragging about folks not being able to put the Kobo One in their pockets. As I, and others including yourself, have noted the comments of it 'not fitting in a pocket' being a feature were brought up an annoying number of times. Most of the comments having anything to do with those are from a single poster.

Actually I was referring to adding to being annoying. Looks like I'm too tired and grumpy to write exactly as I mean it in another language. But you are right, I'll take my own advice and go look for the "ignore user" function to put your name on and then off to reading a book. |

I will SO order one!!!! I haven't been this excited about a reader since the release of the PRS 650/350s. How about you, sweetie? ETA I was contemplating buying an IPad mini to read on to get an 8" screen. And then my perfect reader popped up. And I will be able to easily affird it next month as I'll have 500€ extra to spend :d Last edited by Poppaea; 08-23-2016 at 02:54 PM. |

! Right now have one in my basket, so tempted to confirm... Edit: confirmed. I have the fnac card so it makes it easier to bring it back if I don't like it (which I doubt it), or if the weight bothers me for reading in bed. Last edited by aceflor; 08-23-2016 at 03:13 PM.
