I bought some Rishi golden Yunnan last night at Whole Foods, which I'm having now. While not bad as such, I'm disappointed. It's nowhere near the quality I get with comparably-priced tea from Ten Ren. I don't think I'll bother with any more tea from Rishi. I also got a can of The Republic of Tea milk oolong. The unprepared tea smells astonishingly good and I'll be trying that tomorrow. If the flavor is as good as the aroma, then I'll be trying more from The Republic of Tea. |

The milk oolong from The Republic of Tea. I was expecting "milk notes", but this tastes so powerfully of caramel that I'm pretty sure that it must be flavored. As it's cooling, I can taste the tea in the background, but the predominant flavor is caramel and now I taste apple peel. Neither the can nor the website hints that this tea is flavored, but I've finished the tea and the cup smells like candy. I'd bet money that this is a mediocre oolong that was sprayed with caramel apple flavoring. Bleh. |

Earl Grey http://www.gongfu-tea.com/sunshop/in...t_detail&p=367 This is the best Milk Oolong I know of. Most places try and use flavorings to get the Milk Oolong goodness but Gong Fu does not. Even better, it is less expensive through Gong Fu and it supports a small, local tea shop. Win, Win, Win. I started with Republic of Tea and moved away from it once I started to really explore tea. Their stuff is far too flavored and processed for my liking. I am reading the reviews and I have never had a cup of Milk Oolong from a reputable company that tastes fruity. It has a smooth, buttery flavor/feel to it. So I would not trust a milk oolong with coconut and pineapple hints. What the? Last edited by ProfCrash; 08-18-2016 at 01:34 PM. |

First tea of the day, although I did have a large foam cup of convenience store coffee earlier while I was getting an oil change for the minivan.
