Have any reviewers noted what firmware version the Aura One is using? I haven't found one that has yet.

I love my H2O and its size is just right for me. I don't think I want to move to the bigger screen. What I would like is an update to the H2O with some of the new features in the Aura One (water-proofing without the port cover, more memory, the new lighting system, etc). What is the likelihood of an H2O update? Maybe next year at this time?

Is there any way to download this new firmware for the Aura One so the patches can be written for it?

That would be fairly pointless. It is unlikely that this is the release firmware version. Kobo will probably have another version available on the day the device is available.

I have to say I am immensely surprised by the "night mode" on the Aura One. I personally can't recall hearing that in any of the pre-announcement leaks or media, so Kobo really kept that under wraps very well. This feature added to the 7.8" screen diagonal really peaks my interest in buying the device. I have an original Kobo Glo and a Kindle DX, and a little nexus tablet + lots and lots of physical books, so I don't think my Fiancee' would look too kindly on another eReader arriving lol. Kudos to Kobo, way to innovate! Keep it up! Keep thinking out of the box and you will assail the Amazon mountain effectively. Now watch the kindle have this feature by Christmas ^_^ Kobo caught them off guard! |

hi, i very much doubt if Kobo will update the H2O and even if they did there is no guarantee it would be a step in the right direction worthwhile upgrade, to give you an example just take a look at the new Kobo Aura Edition 2 which will be released soon, it is definitely a backward step device nowhere near as good as it's predecessor. sadly you won't get much unbiased objectivity on here. best wishes koboy Last edited by koboy; 08-18-2016 at 01:50 PM. | |

FYI: Kobo said the Aura One has 9 white LEDs and 8 RGB LEDs. http://the-digital-reader.com/2016/0...ght-mode-video In comparison, the Kindle Oasis has 10 LEDs. |
