Block library returned book "letter"?

When I return a borrowed book to my public library I get the "digital loan ended" email. I don't need the additional "letter" that gets downloaded to my PW (I'm hazy on why anyone would want it). Is there any way to block receipt of the letter? Thanks, CC |

Nope, I wish there was. I do have a KUAL extension which deletes various garbage including those letters en masse. |

OK thanks - at least it's not as annoying as having every ebook acquisition appear in the carousel of every Fire tablet - especially the old KFHD8.9 where only one can be selected at a time. (I even tried leaving it in airplane mode for a few weeks but it still spammed me with the whole shebang first time I reconnected)

The letter has the title of the book on it, doesn't it? As it's title? I find it can serve as a reminder about what books I've borrowed. Although I freely delete them sometimes too. |

I don't begrudge people who like getting the letter on their reading devices, I just think it would be nice if people who don't like it had the option to suppress it...

There's a "book>borrows" seciont in "manage contents and devices" ??? [runs off to look] edit: it's empty. Does it only show what is currently borrowed? I just purchased the same book I had borrowed, so I don't currently have anything borrowed. But it's not showing my history of borrows. (Which I record in a text file, along with "titles I've read".) But wait - if you weren't aware of the "borrows" section, how were you returning books when finished? As far as I know that's the only way to return a book that's been downloaded?

Well, there is always waiting until the loan expires. Which of course means anyone else who wants to read it will have to wait extra -- so please, everyone make sure to return library ebooks when you are finished with them... |

It's a shame returning the book isn't an option in the Kindle (eink) menu. I'd be more likely to return a book early then. from my Galaxy S6 |

It occurs to me that people might not notice the Return option and just delete a borrowed book when finished, in which case I assume it would remain checked out until expiration. In that case it would of course not be retained in the Amazon account. In any case, I suggest borrowing, downloading and returning a random book to see if it remains in your account. If not, there must be some setting I'm unaware of... |

It would also be great if Calibre's Overdrive PI could remove a hold in all connected libraries at once. When the first checkout comes through it's a bit of a hassle to manually remove all the no-longer-needed holds. Unfortunately it's considerably easier to just wait for the checkout emails and use the link to return the book. Though now that I think about it, libraries presumably derive some benefit from the inflated the circ statistics...

I always borrow a new book, and say "yes, go ahead and remove the old one". That's the only way I was aware of, to return a borrowed book. Do you think it really prevents others from borrowing it, as it would at a normal library? I'm aware that even digital books have a number-of-copies owned, so that a library can only loan out when one is returned. It never occurred to me that Amazon has that too? |

To my knowledge Amazon's own one-title-at-a-time service doesn't have any limitations on concurrent borrowers...
