Yay, hopefully Sweetpea will feel better soon.
I just realized it's less than a week until I go home. I expect my friends back at the latest on Wednesday, more likely on Tuesday. I've already started taking home some things I won't be using anymore. I will miss Luca when I go home, this year she has become a lot more affectionate. I will also miss being able to take showers in the morning and being able to have dinner whenever I want and whatever I want. I won't miss having to plan my day around dog walks and having to be hyper vigilant when walking Luca. I'd rather avoid confrontations with other dogs and cats than meet them head one. I also won't be missing the metal horizontal blinds which are noisy when it's windy. And I won't be missing the mattress. My mattress own is firm, but my friends' mattress is hard and seems to be getting harder each night. |

There's nothing like your own bed. I can understand that.
Maisy has picked up a new habit. While I'm totally engrossed in my book she will reached up on her hind legs and use her front paw with claws grab your shirt and yank on it three times then meow and repeat till she gets her way whether it's attention, food or water. I have no clue where she learned this. It's quite effective. She has been doing this for three days now. Did I mention she's half Russian Blue? Sent from my XT1528 |

Nikita was even less subtle. She would jump on the bedside table and from there on the shelf that is about 3 feet above my parents' bed and divebombed down, she was always able to aim for my mother's stomach. I do miss having a cat around. |

My sister was just here. She saw Maisy and gasped. She told Maisy "You're gaining weight!"
I knew she was but this confirms I'm not imagining it. I think she has gained even more since I last mentioned it. The food I have her on is high in protein but low in calories. I'm letting her graze even though you're not supposed to but it seems to be working. Sent from my XT1528 |

They said thank you for the hugs.
Hubby is having the worst gout attack I've seen on his foot. It's soo swollen. The whole foot. Usually it's a little swollen and purple but this time the whole foot looks like a balloon. We had almost a week of very high humidity which is a trigger and then he must have ate something to cause a flare up. I suspect his birthday cake. ![]() He had not had a gout attack in over a year. On a happy note. My sister came to bring some food. Deli meat and stuff for sandwiches because hubby can't drive right now. We just had Dinner and I gave Sweetpea and Maisy some turkey. It was probably half a slice. Maisy just licked it for awhile then Sweetpea ate it all. Afterwards she did a happy dance through the apartment. It was cute. About to go to work/home early. It's going to rain during the time I normally leave and it won't stop until just before opening time. I hate cycling in the rain, even if it's only a 15 minute trip.

Oh no! That's sound awful. I hope you have a rain poncho at least.

Of course I didn't make it. I was half way when rain started to pour. I sheltered in a tunnel until the worst was over but that last kilometer still had me soaked. Luckily I had enough spare t-shirts at home but the only pants I had were either very warm pants for special occasions or an old pair of somewhat faded sweatpants. Luckily they were black so it wasn't too much of a problem.
I've thought about buying a poncho for cycling. But in general I only cycle when the weather is nice. Only those couple of weeks in summer when I'm at my friends' place is there a chance I have to cycle when it rains. But in over 10 years of looking after their dog it hasn't happened that often. I'm now trying to decide what to have for dinner. |

Here in America we have disposable rain ponchos that cost about $1. We keep some around as they are very handy to have.

I got woken up at 2:15AM with a gallbladder attack. Not fun. I'm in recovery mode now. My fault for not eating enough fat to keep the bile moving. I know better. I was so busy with hubby and the cats.
I'm going to take it easy today. Eat small meals with bile moving foods every couple hours till better. Have a happy Sunday every one. Sent from my XT1528 |
