Yes, that's right (5.1.2.1). Still why don't they have the latest update there (I think that's where I got it a few months ago. And the .bin file name makes no sense.

My Kindle Voyage (5.8.1) with a month ago "Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics" version was not worked. But after I restarted my Voyage and re-download "Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics", now it's work. |

Does anyone have a guess why it needs "page-flip" enabled books and does not work with side-loaded content? Just another brick in the Amazon-wall? This should be totally on the side of the reading software. /Jens |

It appears to be limited to KFX-format books. Presumably some sort of data used by the feature is embedded in the book. You can of course use the older page-flip feature with any book.

The page-flip, old version, (I don't know its name) needs an additionnal line in the metadata.opf file otherwise the Kindle is unable to find the next chapter. I always add it after I've converted an EPUB to an AZW3 file.

Remember that it seems to only be on certain books.

When will Amazon realize that adding features that only work on a small amount of books is going to piss off people. Well done Amazon.

And, as badgoodDeb states, it doesn't work for all books. Check to make sure that the book you are reading is in KFX format. Look for the name of the book in the 'documents' folder of the device over USB. For example: Celestial Debris_B00FG67ASI.kfx

They might claim that the efficiency of the new format is required for battery life and performance, but I think that adding incentives to not read books purchased elsewhere is also part of the reason for this limitation.

They say Page Flip will be added to more books over time. It was the same with 'advanced typography' and 'word runner' support. Some thing they compute on server and generate an index for that gets downloaded with the main book file. The Android app was updated 6/28, but does not mention Page Flip specifically: 'new reading experience for text and data tables with improved readability and navigation'. Whatever that means. I downloaded a book that supports Page Flip and it doesn't do that thing. So maybe it is not there yet. Last edited by tomsem; 07-01-2016 at 08:00 PM. |
