I know the Safehold books can be a little irritating at times (and I do agree with you that the names are one of those irritations

), but it remains one of my very few "must buy" series.

Why not try the first book in the Kathy Reichs series you bought? I'm sure you'll enjoy that.

I was planning to buy Death's Bright Day by David Drake at Baen. Then I noticed that Amazon has posted that the item is under review.

Half way through Stephen King's Shining, been wanting to read this book for years but since I am a terribly slow reader, a 500 page book was not on my priority list. Too bad, didn't know I would enjoy a book so much.

Finished "Interstellar Patrol", by Christopher Anvil, which I bought from Baen in 2003. An excellent collection of Anvil's "Federation of Humanity" short (and not so short) stories, compiled and edited by Eric Flint. The Interstellar Patrol are the "problem solvers" of Anvil's universe, and often find themselves up against rival organisations, such as "Space Force" (the military force of the Federation) and the ultra-bureaucratic "Planetary Development Administration", who make the rules which control colonisation of Earth-like planets. A delightful collection. Highly recommended!

One of my favorites! Loved the boy Danny - made my day when King wrote the sequel, Doctor Sleep.

Just finished Kill All the Lawyers by Paul Levine, a freebie from Amazon and it was a good read. AND I never saw that ending coming.

Next up, Bruno Chief of Police by Martin Walker based on a reco by Apache and CRussel

That book is has been nominated for the MobileRead Book Club's July selection. It needs one more vote to make the poll, and I've considered giving it, but issybird's negative review at Goodreads has me hesitating to do so. It looks interesting, and has a 3.82 average rating, which isn't bad by any means, but Issy's review is so discouraging.

Let me know what you think of it.

It's a cozy mystery with a little romance. The police chief is a perfect and intelligent ladies man with no character flaws. Although, I felt he was very condescending. The book reminds me of Louise Penny's Inspector Armand Gamache. I rated Bruno a C- [3 stars].

Finished "Monday Mourning", by Kathy Reichs. This is the 7th book in the "Temperance Brennan" series of books about a forensic anthropologist working in Montreal, Canada. In this book, she tried to uncover the mystery behind the skeletons of three teenage girls discovered in the basement of a pizza parlour. Excellent, as have all the books in the series been so far. Very highly recommended.
