According to Customer Service, existing (even deactivated) accounts don't qualify for the credit; only brand-spanking new accounts do.

Maybe they've provided for this, but to put an audiobook in your shopping cart, I assume that you have to have an account. But if you get an account, I don't see how you can then buy (get) it.

I did an ordinary Google search for "swimguide," with "audiobooks.com." I limited the results to the last 7 days. Curiously, I had one hit--the Mobileread post about it a few hours ago. When I searched for anytime, there were a bunch of hits from last October, when apparently Audiobooks.com had this same promotion.

I listened to this when it first came out. Not outstanding, but entertaining enough if you like this kind of thing, especially at a bargain price.

I can't find the post on the main (i.e., excluding the Opie) part of the thread about the current Audiobooks.com offer (one free month (=one free audiobook)), so I won't quote anything about it.

I tried signing up. Maybe I did, I think that I did. Anyway, I want to share a couple of things to my fellow MobileReaders about my experience.

First, the selection at Audiobooks is not very good, IMHO. Of course, if you just want to grab the free audiobook, I guess that it doesn't matter.

Second, I found out after signing up that you've apparently got to use an Apple or Android device. Of course, that's with you using their proprietary app, too. No, that's not a problem for most people. But I'm not most people. I am a nonconformist and I don't want to use an Apple or Android device (just kidding--I've got an Android now, but it's got some kind of problem, that's bedeviling me, recognizing the additional memory that I installed, and I can't install any more apps on it. But you didn't care to know all of that.)

Third, according to their FAQs, if I go to my account, there is supposed to be a link that I can click in order to cancel my membership. It's not there. So, I had to email Audiobooks and am crossing my fingers that they'll reply.

Just so you'd know.
