The on-line version of merriam-webster says it is hyphenated this way.
If you hyphenated it un-conscious between the first ans second line of text you might get much better typographical grey. There is no way to find out just to do it and assess the typographical grey of the whole paragraph.

As the previous poster said, and as I have been complaining for years, a 486 era computer could do this in LaTeX or inDesign or in other good desktop publishing tools. A humble e-ink reader nowadays has vastly more processing power, RAM, ...

Even the font that is used on the sample is a bit small for my taste (and eyesight).
Being able to select smaller margins or left justification might produce a bit better result, but such advanced features are not available on a premium e-ink reader from Amazon.

I have to say, I had no idea that vegan was more than just a food thing. Honestly, this whole leather cover thing has come as a complete surprise to me. Do vegans also avoid other leather products, like leather belts or leather shoes? Wallets too?

Yes. Leather, wool, lanolin, silk, Premarin, keratin, ambergris, allantoin, shellac, and a whole variety of other things.

They do - a friend of mine has been vegan for over 20 years, there're a quite a long list of things he'll avoid. Even some of my vegetarian friends don't want leather goods.

Actually the special edition Voyage cover is rather different from that. I have this cover and really like it. While everyday use will add little scratches or character marks, it is smooth to the touch, not soft. There is no nap or velvet-like feel to it.

People want a lightweight device. Splitting the battery into two sections and putting the larger part of it in a removable case is one way of achieving that goal.

No, you are not supposed to read with thick glasses unless your optometrist tells you too.
The font the OP posted is the smallest one I can read comfortably.
I just wanted to see if smaller fonts had the same type of spacing.

But don't they just use the hides of cows for example after they have been slaughtered for meat.

I don't see a problem if they just use the remains,why waste it?

On the otherhand if they kill an animal for the sake of it's hide and throw away everything else that is a sin.
