Thanks for the link tovare ! The Oasis screen definitely looks brighter when compared to the Voyage. So those extra lights do make a difference. Looking forward to the next video by Len, when he compares them in more depth. Also when everyone who bought an Oasis has them and can tell us how they like them too

I am curious to hear whether the firmware shipped with the Oasis is any different from the most recent firmware (5.7.4) of other recent Kindle models. (Other than those features related to the new hardware.)

Digital Reader is reporting that the Emberly font, currently seen on the home screen, will be available as a font-choice for book-reading on the Oasis.

I was hoping to see it move to "shipped" by now too. I hope the website info is just delayed and the Oasis has shipped. I didn't think that they charged your credit card until the item ships. I wouldn't think that Best Buy is so bogged down with Oasis orders that the website info can't keep up.

My Best Buy order was placed 4/15 at 9:30 AM, it shipped earlier today and is now in transit to Vernon, Ca. Then should be here in central Ca. Wed. About 10:30 AM. ��

The best buy order confirmation email says your card will be charged when the order shipped. Mine still says preparing for shipping but my credit card was charged yesterday so I'm assuming it shipped and the website hasn't updated yet for some reason. I'm going to get tracking info today.

The firmware number is lower than what's currently on the Paperwhite, yes.

But I wouldn't expect Amazon to remove the Ember font option.

Here's a review of the Oasis from the Guardian website. Much of this is a general review of the kindle software, but never mind. And they compare it to the Paperwhite rather than the Voyage.

Anyway, they love it.

My Amazon.de order has been shipped from Piacenza Italy. That would be the fullfillment center in Castel San Giovanni, a medieval town .. "Surrounded by beautiful scenery and with the sophistication of cities like Milan and Piacenza just a short drive away" ... fitting for my wine colored Kindle.

Hopefully I can sync somehow with UPS on Friday to get it then :-)
