Alien Species Intervention (Books 1-3), the first 3 books of a serie (counting at least 7 books) by J.K. Accinni is available for free, without DRM, from various distributors, including Kobo and Smashwords (actually Kobo has a free version with DRM and one without DRM, which may means that they have some masochist customers - nice of them to cater for all). As usual, Smashword has it available in different formats.

Only 3.98 stars on goodreads. but it may be due to readers who do not like violence. It is not bad, given that it has been rated by 663 people and has 145 reviews. There is a warning: This series honestly reflects the brutality of our world. If you are a sensitive reader, this is NOT for you.*** Contains violence.***

But the book got 3 awards (I has never heard of):
- Winner of Awesome Trilogy/Series of The Year 2013
- Winner of Book Junkie's Choice Awards 2013 for Best New Series Fiction
- Winner of Book Junkie's Choice Awards 2013 for Best SciFi

Looks like an interesting serie to try.

Black Sun Rising, the first book in the Coldfire tirlogy by C.S. Friedman, is on sale at Amazon for $1.99.

Friedman is one of my favorite SF/Fan authors and this series is a good one.

These seem to be full readings rather than abridged dramatizations, though they're "Movie in Your Mind" dramatizations which have a full cast as well as a narrator, and background music and effects. It seems like pretty good value for money if you like his writing and this sort of performance style, as the HB details say it contains approximately 116 hours of listening material.

Also, some more RPG stuff if you're into it.

Don't own any of those particular titles, but Graphic Audio does a good job if you like full cast production audio with sound effect and stuff. Be aware that they aren't like straight unabridged audiobooks and GA does edit/abridge titles a bit (not as bad as an abridged audiobook).
