They're having problems, you can't even add the Aaron Swartz one to your cart at the moment. You can add the rest and purchase them, but may not be able to download them yet. Since it's a single day offer, I went ahead and bought the ones I could. Doesn't ask for a credit card or anything.

They don't have North American rights. Those in the UK (at the least) can put it into the cart.

As you say, buy the ones you want and give them a day or two before downloading.

The books you "bought" can be downloaded later.
Instead of downloading you can also choose to sent them to you by email, "preparing your download" takes indeed some time

The truncated ending of the offer was part of the reason that I said that it was a crock. The other is that it would have been considerate if they had extended the offer because of the difficulty that people had downloading the books, but they didn't (or at least haven't yet). I'll give them a pass on the fact that they had technical issues, although they should have anticipated the increased demand on their servers and made adjustments. All of the above are IMHO.

For those having issues downloading, if you haven't already clicked on one of the download links under each book, make certain you don't click the close button when it says it's preparing the download. I did this on one book, and the download links no longer work at all for that one. Clicking on them just does nothing, refreshing the page doesn't fix the problem either. If you have the same issue, the "Email this book" link should work! You can send both versions (Epub and Mobi) to yourself in order to download them.

The rest of the books I waited for the preparing book message to change to a download link, and all of those downloaded just fine.

Gotta say, I'm not impressed with this site. I wouldn't be willing to spend money on books from them.
