Overstrand, Norfolk. Once "the village of the millionaires", now a quiet coastal village.

New London, Tx. All people in Texas owe their safety to the 437 children that were killed in an explosion on March 18, 1937. Natural gas has no odor and there was a gas leak. A saw sparked and set off a major explosion. In May of that same year, the Texas legislation finally approved the bill to put an odorant in Natural gas. That is what you smell if your gas stove does not light. Or a bunsen burner if one is stupid enough to turn on the wrong gas valve. I am extremely sensitive to that smell which I find ironic because the only reason I am here is because my grandfather skipped school that day to work in the oilfield. |
