Wow Geoff that's bad news from my perspective! I shop in Kobo NZ, so that news affects my purchasing power. Looks like less and less reasons to shop Kobo because the general price of NZ ebooks is so great that one needed a good code to buy.

Well. I got an oops during the order and there is nothing in my account. According to paypal, charges are pending. Kobo said to wait and see. Did anyone have similar experience?

i'm in canada. I was going to new Zealand and Australia. It claim you need to put in credit card payment. I did that. Then it just save to Canada. Tried it twice. So change country to India. It allow that without credit card info. Put the book I wanted in cart. When I gone to check out. I input my credit card info. Then it says something is wrong. Input it twice. Still won't let me check out. Does anyone have problems?

I've been having the 'Oops' problem since last night (in India), but thought it was due to a pre-order gone bad (I had removed my cc info.) After seeing these posts I'm wondering if it's the overall system? @Kosh - don't know if this is part of your traveling problem, but when you move to Canada or New Zealand (and probably some other countries), you need to also update to a valid postcode for that location or the save won't stick (the rest of your street address can stay the same.) India doen't seem to care about postcode. |

@mitford and kosh - try downloading a freebie from India and see if it works. (I'm not on PC at the moment so can't try) |

Could Kobo have started to enforce geo-restrictions? |

Eh...good news is I don't think it's a geo-thing, I was able to switch to UK and buy and download a book. Bad news, for me, is I think I broke my India connection - switched back and still get the oops... Maybe I was right and has to do something with the failed pre-order - that book page only shows an empty beige strip, no buttons at all, neither add to cart or see in library. It's...neutered. (I was able to download a freebie.) I've just always been wary of trying to contact CS with something like this, assuming they'd want me to 'explain' my globetrotting. |

I hear you. I ate a couple of problems with the India store, for just that reason. It's even harder to complain now, since they want a phone number.

The India store has really been a blessing for me because a lot of the time their UK titles are cheaper. Guess I could always focus on the existing TBR stacks. | |

Another weekend, another Kobo promo stuff up in AU! Last weekend the offer was something like up to 40% off (?) on a list, and yet the first books on the list weren't discounted at all (and perhaps the whole list wasn't discounted, the only reason I checked the top ones was because $11.99 seemed expensive for discounted books!). This weekend it's a 3 for the price of 2 offer and there are three listed categories: Fiction - many ebooks listed Thriller - 6 books in total offered Romance - 6 books in total offered ................... ....................... https://store.kobobooks.com/p/HCMarAU Edit And the same offer and stuff up in the NZ store! Edit 2 And I should add that in the thriller category unless you read and like JA Jance or Claire Seeber then don't even think about the offer, because yep, you guessed, on offer are three each of their books. (And nothing else!) Edit 3 And the same goes for the Romance category - it's either 3 choices of Stephanie Laurens or 3 choices of Cayle Callen or nothing! Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 03-10-2016 at 05:00 PM. Reason: add edit 2 |
