Just curious Geoff, how do you know if the version has been updated? With Amazon ebooks they auto re-download in K4PC (as per my settings), but what happens in Kobo's case? |

Edit: I've also had some that just re-download when I synced without email notification, and where the ADE version is not updated. I think those are ones where Kobo have just re-processed the book to generate a new KePub version, but the original ePub version wasn't updated. Edit2 Here is a recent email I got from Kobo. Although it is worded as a response to a complaint, I didn't actually contact Kobo about this book, I only contacted the publisher. (when I complain to Kobo they offer a refund, but I find it better to complain direct to the publisher if I want the book to actually be fixed.) Quote:

Is is possible to buy from Kobo via PayPal without having a PayPal account? When it comes up on the PayPal screen, it only wants to log me in or create a new account. I'd like to buy something and PayPal won't let me add a new credit card without connecting my account to my bank account, which I refuse to do, and I don't feel like creating another PayPal account, and for various reasons I don't want to pay Kobo directly with the credit card.

I have too, but as I was told by Kobo the update has to be requested. They won't just push the new ePub to your account automatically. That's great and all, but you have to know the publisher made updates in order for that to happen.

Kobo is an ebook seller, meaning that consumers can just keep travelling, countries and/or stores, until they find what they want; whereas with JC Penny consumers can just 'pop in' and make purchases that may be bulky, or best purchased for whatever reasons 'locally'. So, if consumers aren't happy with Kobo changing their coupon policy, consumers will find another ebook seller that offers advantages to them. Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 03-09-2016 at 06:07 PM. Surprise, surprise! Kobo has denied my price match. On the basis that a completely different book I purchased, on a completely different day, on a completely different receipt, cost less than the price of the book I applied for price match on. Ridiculous. Have now had to email them screen shots of my receipt to prove I bought the book. I was willing to take the chance, because with the price match +10%, this would bring this book down to a price I'm willing to pay. Otherwise, I need at least a 40% coupon to bring it down enough. And since it looks like coupons may be getting scarce, and there are more books in this series....... well, I have a feeling I may not be buying them from Kobo. I was willing to try the price match once to see how it would go, but I'm not willing to go through this rigamarole every time I buy a book. |

Now that Kobo doesn't seem to be doing the coupon thing anymore, perhaps we should change this thread's title to "Adventures in Koboland"? |

I've just noticed that all the HarperCollins books I have been watching are no longer discountable at Kobo in New Zealand. Kobo prices are now set at the NZ publisher list price, same as other NZ retailers. AFAIK the only big publishers still discountable in New Zealand are now Penguin/Random House, and Macmillan US. |
