Mobi/mobipocket is vague and unhelpful. KF7/KF8 is clear, helpful, and concise--whatever Amazon might choose to call it. As long as there are extensions like .mobi or .azw that can contain one, the other, or both formats, calling something a mobi is pointless. KF7/KF8 works as good as anything to differentiate between the formats. Deal with it.

He is not actually arguing that the *.mobi file sometimes known as Mobipocket version 7, does not exist -- he is quibbling about the words people use to refer to it. In all the years he has been here, no one has managed to convince him that this distinction (and MANY others) is meaningless, so I don't understand what hope you think you have. Best to ignore him and move on.

As usual. EDIT: claiming that people will confuse "KF7" with the Kindle Fire 7 in a thread about coding and validating ebooks is possibly the funniest thing I have heard all week. Last edited by eschwartz; 02-25-2016 at 12:57 PM.

Not meaningless, it is a way to quickly get back to the good part on a reade that does not support bookmark syncing

I'd find myself trying to dog-ear the corners My problem is I don't like to see those awful, uninformative ToCs at the start of ebook novels. Obviously non-fiction is different.

Or maybe you can bookmark but you cannot sync between your tablet/phone and your E-Ink ereader. Personally, I could do without an HTML ToC listing "Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3". Which is what so many of them are... |
