I'm debating trading in my K3 for a Voyage or a P3 while the current deal is in effect. I'm not sure that the extra cost of the Voyage is worth it to me, but I do think that I would really prefer the screen turn buttons over the touch screen page turn.

Anyway, I understand that the Voyage light is "adaptive" and that it sets the level automatically based on the ambient light. My question is, can this adaptive feature be overridden or turned off and the brightness set manually? I tend to set the screen brightness of my phones and tablets lower than most people I know and I'm guessing that the automatic setting may be brighter than what I would like. Thanks! |

Hi there, yes you can off the "auto brightness", it's an option.

Even more, if you have the auto brightness on, but you prefer to lower the light, the kindle will remember that configuration and next time will "auto" set it to that level. The con is Amazon has not implemented a reset button (something a lot of users are asking for). Once set, the voyage will always go to that preferred level in that certain lightning enviroment, unless you modify it again. PS: hope i was somewhat clear. sorry about my english! |

			Great info, thanks!

Now I just need to decide if the screen turn buttons are worth the difference in cost to me. Thanks again! |

				Voyage screen light question

I have the screen turn buttons, off. I can't get used to them.

That's just me though, most people like them. I found the Voyage Screen to be more evenly lit than the PW, also the Voyage is a bit lighter. |

I personally love the haptic buttons, and use them almost all the time. When I got the Voyage, I wasn't sure if I'd care for them, having used a Kindle Touch and Paperwhites with no buttons for years prior.

To be honest, I don't see any reason to trade in a P3 for a Voyage. It's just not worth the difference in price. Plus, you'll not get much trading in your P3.

I love the buttons on the Voyage, but that is because I upgraded from a K3. I turned off the haptic part though. I didn't need to feel that the page turned. I was happy enough just to see it. I also have the buttons on the most sensitive setting so it's really easy and I can turn pages from both sides of the kindle with either hand.

You can deactivate them and configure their sensitivity and the haptic response you get when you press them. Don't know if the device is worth the difference, but the voyage it's definitely the best kindle I have (KT, KP1, KP2, KV). It's small, light, elegant, near perfect glass screen, premium feel. I really enjoy my reading with it! Maybe you can check it out in a store? |
