Can we download .epub or .pdf file directly via browser?
Hello.
I was wondering if there is any hack or way to allow kindle pw2 wifi to download .pdf or .epub files directly via web/experimental browser. I tried skipstone but keyboard comes in between typing always. Also midori does not seem to be working on FW 5.6.5. 9017 model. Thanks |

Nope, unless Amazon supports it you can't do it -- in the stock browser.
Skipstone works for me though, and I've never been overly bothered by the keyboard quirks. |

Skipstone has no restrictions on what you can download. (Do note that you cannot download files from a login-protected website, since it uses an external downloader.)

curl is pre-installed on the Kindles (it is used by the system for downloads from Amazon when the Java downloader isn't used directly). I don't recall if skipstone can be setup to use curl as the external downloader (I am pretty sure that Midori can be setup that way). |

I think it can, and I actually intended to try it at one point but then I didn't bother for the simple reason that I didn't care enough.
![]() IIRC skipstone uses a "skipdownloader" executable to handle downloads, not sure why... anyway it shouldn't be hard to modify the external downloader command to use skipstone's cookies file.Of course, editing settings is really awkward and best done over USB from a text editor... |
