Problem with cover size for converted mobi file using Calibre

I haven't used Calibre in a few years but I recently needed to update an ebook which is in the mobi file format. I used Calibre to convert the book and everything looks good however the last time I used the software there were not 4 different Kindle versions. The book looked fine and so did the cover. This time the cover is pretty small when I view the KindleDX and Kindle HDX. On the Kindle HD it's size is okay. I attached a screen shot. The size of my book cover right now is 600x800 pixels. I am assuming that is the issue. If that is the case please let me know what is the appropriate size. I have been looking all over for an answer with no luck. Also I noticed the title is being cut off. The is the title in the html which I have on every page of my ebook. Is there a way to get it to wrap, or do I need to make the title shorter? Thanks |

The amazon publishing guidelines have recommended cover sizes, just google for them. As for title, yes you will need to make it shorter.

Okay but I have one more question. Do I need to put the cover in the actual epub or can I choose for calibre to remove first image and then just use the cover file in the metadata? I notice if I remove the first image during the conversion from epub to mobi when I open the mobi in kindle previewer it brings me right to the title page without the cover. If I click the left arrow it will bring me back to the cover page which I think is from the metadata. I just can't find anything definitive on this. The 600x800 cover looks fine when opened in sigila and then when I view on an ipad its perfect. When I put the new size cover, I chose 1525x2500 or something like that (I don't know the actually number right now), and that looks huge when I am viewing it in sigil prior to the conversion in calibre to mobi.
