My K1 was on 1.2 and my KK was on 3.4 before I did the updating. I checked first to make sure where I was and where I needed to be.
Both the PW1 and the basic/buttons were already updated. But those 2 are still in fairly constant use and have their wifi on most of the time.

I am pretty amazed my K1 is still working, considering how much I read on that thing back in the day. I always worry about the wheel finally giving out.

Yeah, if you had the device off for a long time, it might miss the window of opportunity for Amazon to message the device about a new update.

I checked a few sources and it seems that there was no 1.2.1 update until just now.

Ok another question for those on the update. Ive now sideloaded all my books via calibre but I cant choose to display page numbers when reading, just location time left in chapter and time left in book.

All files have apnx files stored alongside the book.

Was definitely working pre-update, had a quick skim through the thread but may have missed it being mentioned.

Very interested to know whether everything else is OK for sideloaded books as this is the only way I use my Kindle. I buy my books from Amazon but sideload via calibre so that I can avoid Amazon messing with my collections over WiFi. Does side loading still work and do covers show up?

I'll post here to let you know but I'll need to get hold of the update as a download so as to keep my Kindle's WiFi off. Have just checked that page numbers are currently working so it will be interesting to see what happens.

It says "Amazon" but the download page offers links to Generations 5, 6 and 7 and there's no sign of a generation number on the back or in the Device Info dialogue.

But does that mean Generation 5, 6 or 7? Amazon's page does not refer to PW2 but to the generation number.
