Nice optics, but nothing changed under the hold, the personal documents cover bug is still there... All in all, another step towards suggesting to the user that they better not use their own books but purchase as much as possible from the Kindle store... Not that Amazon weren't allowed to do that but me, I'm really looking forward to iOS 9.3 even more.... |

I strongly dislike what this update did with the list view. Whats the point of writing "collection" in all caps under collections? As if we didn't know there are collections already from their title and from the number of items that's inside indicated under it. It's just distracting. Before, it was simply in bold and worked very well. The little dots that indicated the length of a book as well as our progression in it are replaced by a percentage number, so it's more text that's distracting from the book titles, and now there's no way to know how long a book is just by looking at the list. Books that are recognized as 'kindle documents', in other words most mobi books sent from calibre, have 'kindle document' in all caps written under their title and author. It's just awful, with all that additional text it's a struggle to focus on the book title and author. As for the half-transparent lines that have been added to separate books... Same thing, it's distracting to me. Worked just fine without them, but then again now that there's all this new textual info instead of nothing or the little dots, I guess they had to add the lines to separate things. And did we really need, on the right of each book, an option button? Was it so difficult to just tap and hold to go to book options? I don't like the cover view and don't like the new home screen either; I was very happy with the list view from before so this update is huge disappointment for me; for the first time ever with Kindles I strongly wish it were possible to downgrade. All in all I feel the screen is suddenly messy and too loaded. What do you all think of the new list view? |

@Offie, I couldn't agree more. Less whitespace, no dots showing how long the book is, unnecessary repetitions and collections which are now inintelligible from documents at first sight. Today a new issue of magazine from Kindle Store was downloaded and I didn't notice it, because "NEW" label looked as everything else. I understand they wanted the look to be more modern, but instead they flattened everything. |

I like it. I got briefly excited by "reading lists" but it appears that there's no way to set up a custom reading list other than to artificially restrict your Goodreads "to-read" shelf or your Amazon Wishlist.

Which is proof that you're "damned if you do, and damned if you don't". No matter what change is made, some people will like it, and others dislike it.

Yes I noticed and I know my wife will as she has complained about it on her Voyage. Also, the page/location/time left info in the bottom left corner is much easier to change. This used to be a frustrating hit or miss activity but works perfectly now. A lot of interface improvements that I like - even though I am not a big fan of the new home screen.

Having a bigger picture for your current book would have been a nice change to the homescreen if it didn't require recommendations to be switched on and the reading list being my amazon wishlist is a waste of space too.

It just refused to update. How can I be sure I'm downloading the right update for my Kindle Paperwhite? Edited to add: I downloaded it again and it worked this time. I like the looks of this. Thanks for the help. Last edited by Ekdog; 02-03-2016 at 08:14 AM. |

The update is only available for Paperwhite 2 (2104 6th Gen) and Paperwhite 3 (2015 7th Gen). On the Amazon.com explanation page is says 2013 and 2015 models but that is wrong.
