i'm glad everybody likes it. if you decide to make one, and if like me you very cleverly (

) realize that it will be much easier to make clean holes in the plastic for the wires if you use something hot like a soldering iron, take a little tip, do that outside. at the very least make sure you are near an open window. take my word for that.

I saved a bunch of those internet CDs a while back with the voiced intention of "making something out of them." I never did get around to it, of course. Good on you for actually carrying through when I failed! I somehow feel slightly vindicated for having saved the blasted things in the first place.

i'm not the only one. some friends of mine make a "christmas tree" out of different things every year, usually it doesn't look anything like a tree at all, it's just an excuse to make a really big decoration for a few weeks. one year they took a lot of hula hoops and tied them together and then attached a bunch of cds 2 by 2 with the label on the inside and hung them from the hoops with fishing line. it didn't look much like a tree but it was really pretty.

so you don't even have to break them and pierce holes in them, if you don't want to ; you could make something with whole cds. i still have a stack of them, my friends keep giving them to me. you want me to send you some ?

I do have a Dremel tool with a drill press, should I decide to drill holes rather than using a hot wire. However, I think that, too, should be done in a well ventilated area.

seriously, you still get internet cds ??? i haven't seen one of those in *years* ! all the internet companies are giving a "box" now, for high speed internet ; i don't think mine even came with an installation cd (a remote control, yes, however, for the television ; that still strikes me as strange. i never used it).

(oh, and i would *never* try to make the muffin man leave you ! because who would make you scones then ???)
