Best Font for Codeview in Sigil
Hi,
i just want to bring a font to attention, if it is really the best is a personal choice, of course. The default i guess is Courier, but i for myself like Source Code Pro more. It's a monospaced font, totally free and distinguishes clearly 1iIlL| or 8B or oO0. Of course this is not really Sigil related, but maybe useful for the one or the other. You can read more about this font here: http://blog.typekit.com/2012/09/24/source-code-pro/ and download it here https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-code-pro //rubeus |

Thanks for the information, Rubeus. Anything that might help out my tired old eyes will be welcome indeed!

Thank for for this font. I love it because my eyesight and Courier just didn't see eye to eye!

I must say that the regular is a bit too thin for me, but the demibold works fine as regular. Too bad that the character set is not complete for a lot of unicode characters. It is less complete than for example Consolas.

Another option - the one which I use - is DPCustomMono2 (info link --> http://www.pgdp.net/c/faq/font_sample.php) developed by the team at distributed proofreaders (pgdp.net) and specifically designed to help with proofreading scanned and OCR'd books and documents. I use it for pgdp work, but I also found it useful in Sigil codeview.
It does take a bit of getting used to though....it is definitely not what you would call "aesthetically pleasing" ![]() It is free, and you don't seem to need a login to download it (I logged out, and was still able to access the download page)......although if you do download it, they may appreciate you signing up and doing a bit of volunteering for them in return ![]() Phil |
