I noticed that that audiobook is regularly $32.95! So, the WS deal will save people a lot of money. And they have the ebook and syncing benefit to boot.

I guess that the 64 million dollar question is, where did you find the WS prices? After I read your post I thought about the fact that if you check all of the ebook editions that have WS companions you can often find out which one is the winner. Is that how you did it? However, you can't have more than 1 WS companion with the same price or it won't work--you would still not know which 1 was the winner, although you might narrow down the choices (you wouldn't narrow down the choices if all of them happened to be the same price).

When we had the discussion, about 3 or 4 months ago, that I referenced in my previous post, my recollection is that we were all stumped then as to how to do it.

BTW--When I did a search, twice, a few minutes ago, I only found 3 of the 4 Kindle editions that had WS companions. I don't know why.

I found that when I started at Audible and followed their link to Amazon then follwed the available format link to Audible.. different versions. I have found in the past that sometimes more than one version is available as a WS deal or that you get a different one than you expected.

You are jumping in at the end of the series here. Of course previous parts seem to be available as 0.00$ +2.99 WS deals.

Sorry if any of this is obvious or repetitive, but since this situation IS a mess, I will walk you through my process. When I look at the AUDIBLE page, I usually (but not always) see something like:

Whispersync for Voice-ready
Get this Audiobook for the reduced price of $x.xx, when you buy the Kindle edition first.

This happens only when I am either a Listener Light or Regular member (and, again, not always then).

Pressing "Kindle edition" is a link that takes you to the AMAZON page for 1 version of the ebook. I have never been able to verify if each AUDIBLE WS version is connected to only 1 eBook version or not; but the link only goes to 1. I do know that a single AMAZON ebook can qualify for more than 1 AUDIBLE "companion". Which leads to the issue rjcchan mentioned above.

What I do is:

• find the audiobook I want;
• verify which ebook it is connected to (again, by clicking "Kindle edition");
• purchase or borrow the ebook*; then
• purchase the audiobook from the AUDIBLE page (never from the AMAZON side).

When an ebook goes on sale or is free and I don't know which of multiple possible audiobook companions are connected it, I just open every WS eligible version of that title on AUDIBLE and click through until I find which ones take me to the sale/free book.

This gets much more complicated with something like Pride & Prejudice (which currently has 19 WS eligible versions). But I have never failed to get the audiobook for the reduced price when I own the AMAZON edition that the "Kindle edition" link on AUDIBLE takes me to.

Side note for those, like me, who often borrow their qualifying ebook from Overdrive. My process for this is:

• find the audiobook I want;
• find out which ebook it is connected to;
• find that book's ASIN number and copy it;
• search for the ASIN on OverDrive's site;
• if it is there, figure out which of my libraries has it and check it out (or request it); then
• purchase the audiobook while I have the ebook checked out.

This has only failed me once. (I had the ebook with the proper ASIN checked out, but AUDIBLE would not recognize it).

If you aren't a member (or aren't holding your mouth right today) and can't see the WS prices, I would be happy to check for you on occasion; although I can't promise how quickly I will get to it.

*Once I own or have borrowed the correct eBook, I usually see the following on the AUDIBLE page:

Whispersync for Voice-ready
Because you own the Kindle edition, get this audiobook for the reduced price of $x.xx.

and it always has the "Price" marked out and: "Whispersync for Voice Price:$x.xx" above the "Add to Cart" button.

I follow the same procedure. an aside..the $3.49 Audible reading by Simon Vance which was "the winner" was linked to two Amazon books. The original Amazon find was back to $7.14 by the time I got there, but there is also a $.99 e-book version that links to it.

But thanks for the heads up on this because I was able to pick up the first 5 of the series by a good reader for $2.99 apiece

The reason that I chose this one is that the ebook had a big markdown (others in the series may have, I just wasn't aware of them)--from $7.99, I think that it was, to $0.99. So, the WS deal for this ebook was "on sale." I may have posted an everyday bargain a time or two in the past, but the vast majority that I've posted had big markdowns from the usual prices.

It might be a good research project for me to see if any of the other ebooks in the series have markdowns. If so, I'll try to post the WS deals for them. I'll know how now to find the audiobooks that correspond with the ebooks. ha

Even given the typical slate of audiobooks which Audible offers in a 2-for-1, this selection seems particularly abysmal. There's nothing even faintly tempting in the categories of interest to me (non-fiction and fiction). And without checking, I think at least some of the classics are probably cheaper in a Whispersync combination.

In case you can't find anything at all for a second book, you can always put the book you want into the special cart and it will still be there the next time Audible offers a 2-for-1 sale.
