What do you think of the new Goodreads look?

What is different? Looks the same to me (though this may be because of our respective regions, or because they are doing A|B testing).

What’s different?
To enhance the readability of text on Goodreads, we’ve adopted two new open-source fonts. Lato, our sans-serif font, was designed by Warsaw-based designer Łukasz Dziedzic (“Lato” means “Summer” in Polish). Merriweather, our serif font, was created by Eben Sorkin and was designed to be pleasant to read on screens.

To make it easier to scan the page for information you need, we’ve touched up and modernized the design of common page layout elements like section headers, tabs and links.

To simplify and modernize our visual design, we’ve reduced the number of link colors we use, removed gradients from buttons and the site navigation, and applied a more harmonious color palette to interactive elements such as buttons, stars, and links.

The changes are there, but frankly, it doesn't look any different to me.

The fonts have changed as they mentioned in the quote and the background is lighter.

I find the fonts blurry and very hard to read, and the white background provides too much contrast.

P.S. I LOVE MR fonts. Please don't ever change!

I can't read the site anymore. My eyes are watering and burning so bad from squinting now after just a few minutes. Gives me a headache. Horrible fonts and the colors. Can't read reviews with this weird san serif they have and the comments font is so faint and thin that parts of the letters are missing for me.
And the links color, some faint blue there is no contrast and I can't see it well.

I just literally can't read the site anymore.

I am not too fond of the font, as it looks blurry, but other than that I like it.

I hated it. Until I figured out that I'd accidentally de-zoomed my browser and made everything tiny.

Fixed that, and now the only thing that looks different to me is the message at the top asking, "Notice Something Different?"

In all seriousness, though, the fonts do seem to be a bit crisper. But then I've never really been overly font-conscious/sensitive in the first place. It might be that I'm just looking harder at them; 'cause I honestly don't know my serif from a hole-in-the-ground.

Don't care one way or another. It's a pain in the neck to post there, so I don't go there very often.

This is actually a great tip! I "zoomed in" Firefox three times, and it is legible now! Thank you!

It happens to me accidentally all the time. Some key in conjunction with the mouse-wheel changes the zoom-factor on my Chrome browser. Glad my post helped!

I think in most browsers it's control+mousewheel up or down to zoom in or out. Control+0 (zero) is the usual back-to-the-default setting.

Control+(numeric keypad+/-) makes the font larger/smaller, too.

For me its depending on the device. My laptop not so good, my phone is quite good. It's a little too condensed in places and not the best choice (to me) of a font for digital display. I think they failed to take into account the variations in monitors that makes font choice extremely important. Its a font that would work good at a medium size on an ereader or printed on a page, but it's limitations are glaring on some screens.

Some people over on a GoodReads group I am on have posted CSS for use in Chrome Stylebot and Firefox Stylish addons. I tend to avoid addons, but it seems to be working for people to alter what things look like.

Someone over on GR mentioned the Stylish extension for chrome and I am using it. It makes a huge difference for me. It makes the backround some muted color, not so bright and the font itself it makes darker. So the contrast helps immensly with this extension. Still struggle with this teal color on links, but it also is a tad better with the Stylish thing.
