Full Battery ... How Long can you read till its dies? I read a Lot! Some times 24 hours a day!
Can I just Side load ALL my ebooks? IF I don't use a Kobo Account can I still do Collections? What Format? ![]() Last edited by Barbara1955; 12-15-2015 at 06:24 PM. |

You will probably need to charge every 2 or 3 days. 4 if you are lucky.
Battery life is estimated at 30 minutes a day. I don't know about the Glo but I have hundreds side loaded on my Kobo. The books are epubs. |

The Glo HD uses ePub or kepub but I stick to ePub. I don't know if you need an account or not.I do have an account and i have registered my H2O. As for collections, Calibre manages them very well.

If you use Overdrive eBooks, you will need to register your Glo HD. If you do not use Overdrive and you do strip DRM, you won't have to register your Glo HD. But in any case, you will have to register Adobe Digital Editions. The version you want is 2.0.1. The link below will get you 2.0.1. http://www.adobe.com/support/digital...downloads.html |

I have a Kobo Glo, not the HD, the older model, and I don't use it all that much but it's easily the best ereader I have for holding a charge when I'm not using it. I have a few Kindles and the ones I'm not using lose about 10% of their charge per week, maybe 15%. The Kobo Glo loses about 10% every 2 or 3 weeks when I'm not using it. That's with all of them having Wifi turned off while they aren't being used.
However, when I do use it I can't really tell any difference in battery life between it and my Kindles. Barry |

One more thing about the Kobo Glo. I prefer my Kindle so I don't use it much but it's really a pretty nice ereader. If I didn't have a Kindle I'd be happy enough with the Kobo. If you want a Kindle alternative I wouldn't be the least bit afraid of a Kobo.

If I were you, I'd get the newer Glo HD instead of the original Glo. The screen is really that much better on it for the same price. I never compared battery life between the two readers, but it just feels like the battery on the Glo HD lasts a bit longer than on the Glo.
For collections, use Calibre for your library (which will also strip the DRM, Google "Apprentice Alf" if you don't already do that). Then when you send your books to the reader, the books are automatically put into their proper collections that you designate by assigned tags and series. There is a way to use Kobo readers without registering them to a Kobo account, but it's needless hassle to keep doing every firmware update. It's easiest to just make an account at Kobo for just the reader, all it needs is a working email address, and you're done. You don't need to enter any personal info nor any billing info, just don't buy books from that account. |

Not a waste of time at all. Everything about how the Glo functions applies to the Glo HD. The HD just has a better screen, but all functions for reading are the same.

I think the Glo HD has a bit better battery life, it certainly won't be worse. And both have front lights. Both are also infrared touch.
The Glo has an SDcard slot, the Glo HD does not but has 4 GB memory instead of 2. But I have 700 books on the reader and still have over 2 GB free space, so I that's not really a problem (unless you want to carry every book you own with you). Last edited by Ripplinger; 12-15-2015 at 11:00 PM. |
