But not links for Italy (or Swiss)
Search for MediaLibraryOnLine (MLOL) on Google, and see if your local library is part of it (either on MLOL's or the library's website). If it is, you'll have to go to the library and the staff working there will create the account for you. Overdrive, as far as I know, does not exist here.
Mind that in Italy libraries only loan ebooks in EPUB and (sometimes) PDF format, so if you own a Kindle you won't be able to read them.

By the way, searching on google 'prestito ebook biblioteca' gives MLOL's website as first result sometimes what we search is closer than we think!

That's true everywhere outside the US.

There never will be an eInk Kindle that supports ePub.

IN the USA most libraries that support overdrive have kindle books that can directly be checked out. Where do you live that this is not true?

True for most titles, but not all. Some publishers, notably Penguin limit some titles to ePub only.

Ok, it is true that the choice of books can be different for the different formats that are supported. A given book might only be ePub or might only be Kindle.

Have you considered an open Android device like the Boyue or the Onyx. You don't need to register them, they will read anything (except kfx) and I imagine they will work with libraries. I'm not sure if they are easy to buy in your country.

Nice idea, but they not easy to found (ok, i should grab Energy eReader Pro + that's a Boyue T62+), but atm it's a little overpriced for my tiny wallet

What do you think about a used Kobo Glo (pearl, not carta), mint condition, with cover protection (black) at €60?

I bought a used Kobo Glo on Ebay for US $60 about 6 months ago. With Ebay there's always some risk but overall I've had very good luck with them so far. The Glo was just fine. It didn't come in a new box or with any accessories but that was stated in the description so I have no complaint. I can't tell in any way that the device itself isn't a new one.

By the way that was my second attempt to buy a Kobo Glo. About a month before that I bought one on Ebay for $40 and the guy sent me a Kobo Mini. I emailed him about it and got no reply. I waited a week and still no reply so I emailed him again. After a few more days I was getting ready to contact Ebay and he finally answered. He explained he'd been out of town and he didn't know the various models and thought this was a Glo and he'd just issued a refund and I could keep the Mini. I checked and sure enough my refund was in Paypal. So even when it goes wrong it can be alright.

By the way, the Mini was also in like new shape.

Thanks for your reply, @barryem: it's not selled directy on ebay but on kijiji, and not using paypal as payment method, only bank transfer (aka: you give me the bucks, and then prey that i send you the correct item).
Unfortunately Ebay Italia now is only a big store such as Amazon, AliExpress and so on, with a lot of stores and very, very few personal sellers that sell one item.

Latest question, few days to decide:
1) Kindle Paperwite @ €99 Amazon.it
2) Tolino Vision 2 @ €99 IBS.it
3) Pocketbook Lux 3 @ 99+ss Osiander.de
Wich one, and why (better hardware isn't important)?
I've some (mostly) of epub ebooks and some (a few) azw/mobi.
Thanks in advance
