Interesting. My DW is less sure of the series, though she has started reading it. I'm withholding final judgement until I see how at least the second one (Princess Elizabeth's Spy) goes.

Just finished Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don't Know About Them) by Bart D. Ehrman. Thoroughly anchored in the historical/critical tradition of Biblical scholarship, Ehrman is one of the world's leading scholars on the New Testament and early church history. Reading his books is always a most enjoyable, rewarding, and informative adventure, and this is one of his best.

Which was OK. Far too much Psionis, but it's an Andre Norton, so you expect that. Not enough exploration of the cross-time idea, edged out by 'adventure'.

Still reading The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox, but slid into The Library of Souls, the third Miss Peregrine novel, somehow. My TBR is piling up and I've run low on reading time lately.

Finished #2 in the Maggie Hope series, Princess Elizabeth's Spy. I enjoyed it, and I'll probably read further in the series, but I'm going to break things up before I do the next ones. Instead, next up is Kris Longknife: Unrelenting, #13 in the Kris Longknife series from Mike Shepard. This should be a quick, fun read.

I finished "Only Ever Yours." Bleak stuff but, if you guys have a teenage daughter/niece/etc. in your lives, have her read it. It is Handmaid's Tale for the post-millennials.

So, I'm continuing my re-read of the "Hitchhiker's Guide" series. After "The Heart Goes Last" and "Only Ever Yours," some humor is welcome.

Jussi Adler-Olsen 'Department Q' series. I have
blazed through the others in the last couple of
weeks! Great stuff, for fans of 'Scandiwegian'
procedurals, in the vein of Jo Nesbo's 'Harry
Hole' series or the Steig Larsson trilogy!

Just finished "Hell's Foundations Quiver", by David Weber, the newly-released 8th book in the "Safehold" series. I know this series isn't to everyone's taste, but it's one of my favourites, and the release of a new book is a highlight. Yes, it's a slow-paced, in-depth story, but I like that a lot; I like being a "fly on the wall" at decision-making meetings and understanding why people make the decisions that they do. Excellent.

I like this series as well, and find it not as annoyingly over-long as some of the middle Harrington books. I've got the new one in my Audible TBR, but have been trying to finish off this monster Tai-Pan first.

I'm looking forward to the new book, but I shall wait for the price drop when the paperback is released. I do have 700+ other books to read meanwhile!
