Ooooh, bagettes out of the oven, looking good! Time for a big mug of tea - an oolong, but I need to think about which one.
This recipe for baguettes is good. Really good. It's also a bit of a project, since it takes at least a day and a half to make the first two of four. (Second two can be made any time in the next two days after that, whenever you have three hours or so. ) If I still lived in the Bay Area, I'd never bother, since I could always get Acme baguettes whenever I wanted. But living here? They sell something they call a baguette at the local IGA, but it's actually floppy. <shudder> So if we want good bread, we need to do it ourselves. |

Well, have another one, pooh. Even if you don't shake the cold, you'll certainly feel better for a good single malt.

Blue Spring Oolong.
I am going to be making some cinnamon bread tonight. I meant to make it last night but the Little Man (3 now and not all that little) had some friends going out to dinner so we joined them. Kids Night out when the husband isn't going to be home until 10 struck me as a great idea. Other adults, child playing, child eating without complaint. Mommy's in! So tonight is cinnamon bread. Little Man likes helping in the kitchen, so he should be happy to put the ingredients in the bowl. After that is made, I think I'll use the bread machine to make a whole wheat bread to go with the chicken salad we are making. Great sandwiches. |

We have found that Cold-Eze actually works to make a cold less miserable and shorter. As soon as we feel the sinus pressure or the throat tickle we start using them. Give them a go next time at the start of a cold.

Hey, kk, good to see you. You've been missed!
This was not my original recipe, so all I can do is point you to the source -- America's Test Kitchen. (Warning: Registration required) It's a really good idea to watch the video, since a good deal of this is technique. But the result is worth it. Drinking more of the Keemun Panda. |

Welcome back KK!
It is easy to make. I use the bread machine to make the dough. When it is done roll it out to a large rectangle, brush with butter, add cinnamon and brown sugar, and roll lime a jelly roll. Let it rise for 45 in its pan and bake at 350 for 40 minutes. I am messing around with how to make the cinnamon swirls more prominent. I might double the brown sugar... |

Keemun for the morning tea. Had a slice of cinnamon bread. Needs more brown sugar so will up the amount in the next loaf.
My Loving Husband laughed when he saw my Halloween Candy choices. We have three buckets, one for kids with no allergies, one for gluten/nut allergies, one with no candy just crayons, bubbles, super balls, and erasers for kids who have more difficult allergies/health issues. Yes, I am a bit silly. I am not sure how to handle it when kids come to the door. Maybe I'll put large labels on each one but smaller kids won't be able to read them. Yes, I over think everything. Why do you ask? |

Something is seriously wrong here, but I'm not sure what it is. We can't give "natural" things, like apples, since the nutcases are out there. We can't give anything with nuts out of concern for allergies. Sigh. We basically gave up and just don't make ourselves available for Holloween. There aren't any kids on this block anyway, and I'd just as soon not have the candy in the house.
Keemun sounds like a good idea. I'll fix a pot of Lion Mountain Keemun to get me going today. |

Around here, households that want to provide candy that's less likely to pose problems for kids with allergies put out a pumpkin that's been painted teal. I'm sympathetic. I've known several kids who were allergic to peanuts (and fish, but no one gives out cans of tuna for Halloween). One kid, who went to preschool with my son, was so allergic to peanuts that just being near someone who'd eaten peanut butter and then breathed in his face could send him into a life-threatening reaction. The pre-school my son went to had a strict no nuts, no fish, policy -- and epipens in the nurse's office.
Still, we live at the end of a long dead end with no street lights. These days there are only a few kids in the neighborhood, so a couple of bags of chocolates will do the job. As far as my cup goes, things have changed. I ordered a cast iron teapot and today is it's first day. It's more practical since the demise of my second mug. |

thanks for the welcome back guys! I've been super busy working on the local elections, getting my little farm ready for winter, been doing much more prep work than I ever have before, getting ready for my court case (10 years in the making) and last but not least, I am now the proud human mother to 3 pilgrim geese and 2 ducks
