I haven't read a Jack Chalker book that was terrible, though some were better than others... I have very worn copies of the Well of Souls books, as well as the Soul Rider books, and I've read the G.O.D. Inc books, as I recall, and Wonderland Gambit. I haven't read all his stuff, though. I often compare him to Stephen Donaldson, though their styles are somewhat different... I guess because they are from the same era of scifi? Anywho, reading the second Peregrine's book, Hollow City.

Well I finished 'Iced by M Terry Green' which was really good and engrossing from the start. I then read a couple of mysteries, The Fyre mirror by Karen Harper and Redemption by Jill McGown which were enjoyable, I think I had read the Jill McGown book brefore a couple of years ago. |

Next up was the prequel to a new series from Janet Evanovitch and Lee Goldberg -- Pros and Cons, a Fox and O'Hare short story. This was OK, good enough to make me go ahead and try the first full novel in this series. I admit, I really liked the early books in her Stephane Plum series, but got bored with them fairly quickly. If this series has characters who don't grow and change, it will fail fairly quickly for me. But I've got a library copy, so at least I'm not out of pocket.

Finished Hollow City, the second of the Miss peregrine series. I think I will tackle Stephen Euin Cobb's Plague at Redhook next. |

Just finished Timescape by Gregory Benford, a multiple award winning SF novel about communicating back in time to try to avoid an eco-catastrophe. I kind of liked it, but found it a bit weird. The premise is laid out right from the start, and then we just follow the daily lives of a few characters while the SF unfolds in the background without any real surprises. I was constantly expecting something new to crop up. After that I started The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell, which I picked up recently as a daily deal. There's a BBC TV adaptation starting in a few days, and I always prefer to read the book first (although I don't know how much or which parts of the book series are being covered). Enjoying it so far, as the Danes conquer their way across England. |

Next up, another Library book -- Mr. Churchill's Secretary, by Susan Elia McNeal. This is the first in the Maggie Hope series, and I've got some hopes that it might be interesting.

Just read ' Enter the Janitor by Josh Vogt' from the Monster Story bundle. Enjoyable and I would consider reading the sequel when it is released.
