My Amazon UK account has an UK address. Since I only use it for ebooks, it really doesn't matter.

To continue purchasing titles available for United Kingdom, please send a copy of your valid government-issued identity card, passport, or a utility bill received within the previous 90 days to our secure fax line: == Since a passport has no address on it, apparently any British citizen can buy UK ebooks. from Australia. |

P.S. Sorry, Ursula. I'm no big friend of Amazon, but boycotting is going too far.

If I didn't buy ebooks from Amazon, I'd probably buy less books in total, mainly because I no longer enjoy driving around the mall's parking lot to find a space in order to get into B&N, and can no longer drop down to the floor with any grace in order to check the lower shelves for books I might want to read. I've also reached the age where I no longer want to read about other people's fictional problems and the lessons learned from them - been there, done that. So she can keep her "literature". I read mainly for escapism and entertainment now and don't give a rat's behind if purchasing from Amazon annoys her. |

My escape of choice is old mysteries and now there are all those lovely old series, some with dozens of books, all now available as space-saving, no-dusting-required, adjustable-font ebooks.

I don't particularly want to read those books either -- I'll keep my entertainment, thankyouverymuch! |

Been reading SF wherever I could find it from day one. (Even if I didn't think of it as SF until a couple years later.)

Yup. Edmond Hamilton, the Brothers Binder, snd Gardner Fox got me started in the right direction. Led me to Verne, Heinlein, Blish, Asimov, and Smith. Not a single neurotic english lit professor in any of the books. |
