The obvious solution is to buy an unlocked iPhone 6, and call it an 'iPod Touch Plus'. GPS chip, higher clock speed, better display, better cameras, Touch ID, and more impressive to other people. More than double the price, of course, but it is a choice. Last edited by tomsem; 07-16-2015 at 09:24 PM. |

But apparently only one other person (so far) is interested in a larger iPod Touch. So I'm going to shut up now and keep my head down before I get dumped on some more. Last edited by odamizu; 07-17-2015 at 02:37 AM. |

I wouldn't have minded a bigger iPod either.

I still own the Black 80-gig Classic, in mint condition, but it just sits in a drawer in its protective cover. Occasionally, I'll charge it and listen to it, until a brick wakes me up and I realize I have all the music I need on my computer when I'm in the computer room (or when I'm in my living room, listening to my audiophile McIntosh amp, etc.).
I have no idea what to do with this old Classic, but it does make a good museum piece, I suppose. These new-fangled iPods seem like a dying breed. What can you do with them? Listen to music? - Hey, that's a wild idea. Watch a movie? - Tell me it ain't so, Joe. Send an email? - Wow! Technology has really advanced. Send your files to the Cloud? - Hey! Another new idea! Listen to an audio book? - Holy Cow! No other device on the market can do that! I think I might buy a nice display case with glass and surround it in velvet backing and put the Classic and my PDA (also mint, and originally priced at $550) on display. |

it would have been nice for the 4.7" form factor for sure. At least Apple updated these devices. I imagine that they have more capacity in 4" screens given the huge success of the 6/6+ and the upcoming new iPhones 6s/6s+ coming...and the price dropping on the existing ones....Apple might not have had a choice.
Particularly in light of the iPad Mini at 7" |

I never got the appeal. Years ago when I first wanted a larger capcity player I compared MS vs Apple and found I liked the MS Zune SW better and bought a Zune 80. I never had an issue with it though I was happier when the phone technology got to the point where I didn't need to carry 2 devices.
As it stands right now I usually have my phone with me all the time so I either plug it in to the car or wear earbuds and have all the music (or audiobooks) that I want. My wife now has the Zune 80 and its still going strong. |

At one time, I was interested in the touch; and even had one. That's no longer the case. The LG Volt is now my media player of choice.

Despite the 'iPod' moniker, for me the iPod Touch has always been more about being able to run apps, so it is more of a mini-tablet than a media player (though of course it is that as well). 'iPad Micro' if you will.

My Gen 4 Touch is still my go-to audio device, because it's so small and sleek. It has become increasingly less useful in other respects, however, as the tiny screen is much harder to navigate with my ageing eyes and because more and more of my apps have ceased to function as they require updates incompatible with its terminal OS.
These look really nice and I'd be delighted if one fell into my lap. But I can't come close to justifying forking out the premium price when I've got a couple of perfectly good unactivated smartphones that serve the same purpose, and at a fraction of the cost. I'm getting a little tired of Apple's planned obsolescence, too; my Gen 2 Touch and now my Gen 4 Touch reached the end of their useful lives well before the hardware failed. |

I use a 64GB iPod Classic in my vehicles. It is starting to get full so a 128 GB Touch would be great for my music, podcasts and audio books.

I just use my current 64 GB iPod Touch for music, podcasts, and audiobooks too. It always used to be annoying when I had everything on my iPhone 4 because I'd take like 300 pictures, and a message would pop up that I was running out of space.
![]() Now I have a 64 GB iPhone 5S. I haven't filled it up completely (I still have 20 GB left), but it's nice that I don't have to think too much about it. And I especially like that I have the space to edit down video because I've been filming a lot of things lately. |
