When I manually change settings.reader.lua, koreader deletes it every time and make a new one empty. Is there some method to avoid that?

Anyways, you can change all those settings from within koreader. There is no need to tweak it. persistent.defaults.lua should be tweaked instead. Have fun with your experiments.

The settings within koreader are all in defaults.persistent.lua not in settings.reader.lua.

The long press option is a slowly expanding feature. If you have suggestions for other features that should work that way, please feel free to issue enhancement suggestions at Github. Just press the green button "New Issue".

The persistent one should override everything, so you can put anything in it even if that's not in it by default.

Any chance the Notes feature for PDFs will appear at some point? Judt checking because I'm currently debating getting another reader for the purpose of reading PDFs on the go and i'm wondering whether my H2O wouldn't be suitable (I havent really used it because of the lack of said option..) Also: is it correct that Koreader uses more or less standard annotation for PDFs? So that I could review my annotations on the computer later on? |

There is no notes feature yet. And it's some work to get it. But in general, yes, koreader uses PDF annotations for storing annotations (only text highlighting for now).

@hawhill: I noticed that it’s not there But good to know that it uses relatively standard PDF annotation (which does not display in Preview on the Mac though)...

Thank you! I had an on/off relationship with Koreader for one basic reason: I did not find a suitable font for me (just a little more emboldened than usual) to use with Koreader. I just found one by chance (Amasis30) and so I am back. Most other things on Koreader are very nice. Sometimes the settings are a little tricky to find (defaults.lua, cr3.ini, "render styles") but with a little care, one can always find a suitable solution for the basic and -for me- most important features. Hi ! Tried Koreader after two database crash but was overwhelmed with the options. My epub were more snappier than ever but all the style were gone. Plus I got a large screen (Aura H2O) but like huge marges as I dislike to read long lines (I keep the large screen to read manga). Two questions : how can I make the Koreader use the style included inside the epub ? and it is possible to make marges more bigger as the bigger option is still to small for me (on Nickel, I use it at max value without patch). |

As default it should use the book style as it can. (It can't interpret some of the styles Nickel can). So it may simply be not understanded formatting. Margins can be changed quite easily, easiest by text editing. Copy defaults.lua to defaults.persistent.lua (this way updates will not overwrite it)i in the koreader folder, then you can change the below values: -- crereader margin sizes -- margin {left, top, right, bottom} in pixels DCREREADER_CONFIG_MARGIN_SIZES_SMALL = {5, 10, 5, 10} DCREREADER_CONFIG_MARGIN_SIZES_MEDIUM = {10, 15, 10, 15} DCREREADER_CONFIG_MARGIN_SIZES_LARGE = {20, 20, 20, 20} I think with your preferences you can even double or triple the above pixels. |

It sounds like you have found the bottom menu item to set margins. You can change what those settings mean, using numeric values, in the advanced settings. If you open /koreader/defaults.lua in Notepad++, you will have plenty of green remarks that will help make the adjustments. You could also make the changes using the Advanced Settings menu on the device but you would not have all the comments. Luck; Ken Ebri, beat me too it.
