IMHO, the only difference is the screen, which is updated to a Carta generation screen and has a higher dpi. And that is a good thing as the screen is probably the most important component. But I wish that Netronix had updated the CPU and touch responsiveness and accuracy as those are the weakest components of Kobo devices.

On the otherhand, I do agree with you that the price is spectacular when compared to the Kindle Voyage. Which I found and find heavily overpriced. But maybe worth it or more convenient if you have bought most books through Amazon.

But, importantly, the reading experience can be better on the Glo HD. There is kerning support, font support (including adding your own font choices), hyphenation. The Kindle gives you a mostly fixed look that some just don't like. So yes, the Kindle hardware is current, but the software is living in the stone age.

With the high resolution Carta screen as used in the H2), Glo HD, and Voyage, the fonts will be black. They are black on my H2O.

With the new waterproofing seal around the H2O bezel, dust and crumbs and cat hair no longer get caught like they did in the old Glo and Touch. It remains to be seen exactly what the new Glo HD bezel will be like in that regard.

Agree with BryanK. For myself, I dislike the perfectly flat Aura and the extra bit of glare you get off it. I've also read that some people have a problem holding it and accidentally slipping over that "line" that flips a page unintentionally without having a bezel to hold which has a definite separation from the touch screen. Choices are always good for everyone.

With my Glo always in a closed cover when not reading, I've never had a problem with dust nor food crumbs even eating while reading getting under the bezel. So I'll be perfectly happy with it even without the H2O seal.

I didn't really like the Kindle Touch until I added the Constantia font -- which is dark and clean. My original complaint was that the original fonts were too light. Now I'm thinking of getting a backup original Touch -- I don't think you can add fonts on the new ones.

EDIT No. 2: Okay, I added Constantia from the Kindle fonts package. It works -- and it's already my favorite font on the Glo, but you don't get Advanced Settings for it. I'm guessing that's probably normal for add-on fonts? -- at least for fonts that were made for the Kindle?

The Good reader review seemed different from the previous ones, as if the reviewer really used kobos. I'm interested in what is really different about PDFs, since I never managed to read one on kobos, contrary to sonys. I didn't understand the "No options to enable publishers defaults for e-books" comment.

In the interesting area:

- Pinch to zoom in PDF. Unfortunately the video didn't show this.
- The back is different. I thought I had seen pictures of it that made it look similar to the H2O, but I can't find them now.

Errors:

- The refresh is the same options as for the H20. Only the Aura had something different.
- Isn't "publisher defaults" what you get when you select "Document Default" as the font?
- I'm still getting books with the Beyond The Book details and the "Underline key terms: option is shown in one of the pictures they have.

I didn't watch the video, just skipped through it with no sound. I assume they didn't say anything interesting.

If I am correct, this might pertain to using the original font the publisher used when publishing the ebook. So you're stuck using the fonts available on the Kobo

The Aura is capactive, I had one. I've no idea about the Kindle Basic, that was an assumption as the Voyage and Paperwhite are.

You can find patching instructions in the Kobo Developer's Corner, and enable Advanced Settings for side loaded fonts. Many things in the patch are useful.
