bulk change file extension, but not name

I was looking to change all the htm files in an epub to xhtml, but without renaming then. I prefer to keep the file names meaningful, like toc, chapter_1, etc, rather than book_title_15. Is there a way to do this without renaming each file individually?

That's not currently possible.
Note that the difference in an .htm, .html .xhtml is cosmetic only. There is no functional difference.

Personally meaningful AND in bulk?! That sounds a bit like magic.

The best you can hope for is highlighting all the chapter files and entering a start value of chapter_001 and letting them increment automatically. That's what the bulk rename feature is for. Things like title, dedication, epigraph, acknowledgements, copyright, or about_the_author you're going to have to do manually, and one at a time.

I'm pretty sure I remember doing exactly this by entering

Well whattaya know? Who'd of thunk it?

Not the result I'd expect by putting that into a dialog labeled; "Rename files starting at:", but it certainly works.
