Backing up a PaperWhite
I looked for but didn't see any listings covering this topic so I'm throwing it out here.
Who is backing up and how? Can a simple "dd" do the trick? Is TWRP available for the PW? |

What exactly do you want to backup?
User content? -> /mnt/us Settings? -> /var/local Hacks? -> Slightly more complex, I'd forget about it ^^. I'd go the old fashioned way: rsync or tarballs; dd feels a bit overkill, and there might be some inherent quirks tin the way the userstore is handled, so, meh. |

The Amazon release files are complete images - less user store, /var/local and the personal / device specific stuff stored outside of the filesystem. |

Yup, don't need a copy of the rootfs, Amazon gives to us (vanilla, at least).
And USBMS is handled in a very particular way by Amazon, your experience with other device doesn't apply here ![]() |

I just use rsync, with some excludes for various useless junk (you might want to edit these as you see fit):
