confused about moon reader pro and calibre companion

The more I read, the more it seems the less that I know

I bought a kindle HDX fire and calibre companion&moon+reader pro from the amazon store. My question is do I need to download them first to my android tablet and then sideload them to my fire? It seems from what I have read on this forum that I should follow that procedure....I hope somebody can further advise me with this. I really like this tablet but need moon+reader for my epubs.

If you got them from Amazon then they should download and work on the Fire I would think. The only way that they will work on an android device is if you also have the Amazon app on the Android app.

Yes they will work on your Kindle Fire. You just need to install Amazon Store App on another Android device. Install Moon Reader then use ES File Explorer to back up or send the app. If you use the Send command which is the fastest way ES File Explorer needs to be open on both Devices for it to work.

If you backup the app first this is found under Library/APP in ES File explorer you have to transfer apk like any other file to your Kindle Fire then install.

Google Play version will work but you will get errors so it's best to get the Amazon version. Just makes sure the Moon Reader is bought on the same account the Kindle Fire is registered to.

You actually don't need to jump through those hoops for Calibre Companion--or at least I didn't have to for my Fire HD 6. I was able to pull it right down from the Amazon App Cloud on the device. For Moon +, I was able to get it from the 1 Mobile app store.

She wants Moon+ Pro Reader which is only available at Amazon app store or Google Play.

Cailbre Companion is available via Kindle fire app store. Always has but if you bought from Google Play it will be need to be Sideloaded.

When I was setting up a Fire HD 6 for my mother, I side loaded my copy of Calibre Companion to her Fire. It would not let me run it. They may have changed some permissions. She had to buy her own copy of CC.

Ah the old version worked okay sideloaded. So that's very possible permissions have changed.

I did this just this month on my new Fire HDX. Calibre Companion installed perfectly fine directly from the app store on my Fire. For Moon+ Reader I had to purchase it from the Amazon App Store on my Android phone and install it. I used Apk Share to save the apk file to my One Drive then opened One Drive on my Fire and selected the apk file to install it. It was really easy.

Do you still use the Google Play version of Moon on your KF?

I love the new design of Moon+ but the last update 3.0.2 changed the recent list from grid to an actually list which I do not like. I wish he would let us choose.

My moon pro is on 2.6.6. There is no update option in the app store on my Nexus. That is the version I transferred over to my Fire. How do I get the new version.

The newest version in the Amazon app store is 3.0.1. The newest version on Play is 3.0.2

I had to upgrade the app store for it to show up. It looks like Amazon is forcing us to update to their latest to get new updates of apps now.

Ok, updated the app store, was able to update moon pro, send it to my Fire 6 and now it won't work. I opened a book and now its stuck on the page where you pick the areas to change pages. I cannot find a way out of that. It says page up, options and page down on the page with the bar on the bottom to pick what variation. But how do I go to the book, how do I get out of this. Nothing works, pecking, touching, swiping. I can only swipe down to menu to go home on my Fire. I can't do anything in the App.

I think I remember now why I stopped trying to use that app in the first place. I could never get it to work right and could never find a good font

Touch the book page behind it. That should get you out of the menu. If that doesn't work force close the app.

Oh there is an X at the top hit that instead.

Wait Are you in the toggle map page not Control options? Hit the blue checkmark.

Yes, I am using 2.3.4 on my Fire HD 6.

You need to upgrade the newest version is really nice. I am using the dark theme. He totally redesign the interface. No more ugly shelves.
