Re cooking; almost all of my girl scouts could prepare eggs Benedict FROM SCRATCH! over an open camp fire, we're talking Hollandaise from scratch, hash browns, toasted muffins and poached eggs. Their follow up challenge was usually a smoked turkey breast. My standard for my girls was producing the above, a 5 mile hike, then attendance at a formal function that night.

My vent/rant, I have a very good friend who is going through a nasty messy divorce. Occasionally she goes on a bit of a walk about. I was with her once when I realized she was totally hammered when she picked me up. Her kids have called me three times now as they haven't seen her since early this morning. We've gotten into it a few times now with me insisting she keep me informed as to what's going on. So now I get to do the concern/anger as I try to get some sleep

Eggs Benedict over a campfire sounds righteous. I bit more involved than I'd choose to get into in the woods, but I certainly wouldn't object to another member of the expedition brandishing their skills!

Good luck with that situation. Doesn't at all sound like a pleasant one with which to be dealing.

Sorry, Norton.
I don't think it was the walking. I think now I have a splinter in my foot. The question in now, do I trust my wife's eyes, or go to the doctor and let him cut it out? It looks like it's pretty deep.

Would soaking your foot in warm water and Epsom salts work to draw out the splinter?

I plan to try that in a couple of minutes, and if that doesn't work I may take a hop over to our local Patient First, since this is Sunday and my regular primary care physician's day off.

Ugh, all our immediate care clinics around here are filled with flu victims and are to be avoided at all costs. Georgia has been very hard hit. I'd try all the home stuff first if it were me.

Missing friend has surfaced.

RANT; I do NOT want to go to work this afternoon. I truly believe that we could pretty much close our doors from Thanksgiving (one of the reasons I wish we would move that celebration to October), through to 2nd week in January and just leave the administration staff on and have them forward messages. Ugh. Oh well.

Ah, one advantage to living in Canada - Thanksgiving IS in October.

Sorry you have to go to work. I'm not much looking forward to tomorrow myself.

Perhaps I should have read your post first, but it's too late now. The doctor at Patient First seemed to think it's a blister under the skin that has become a bit inflamed. He gave me some antibiotics and told me to eat yogurt.

I'm ok with it being the type of job where you only work days that end in "Y", I just feel that this is a huge waste of time due to the nature of our holidays

I was kind of teasing him as women notoriously get yeast infections when on antibiotics

Probably more likely to 're-plant' the beneficial flora that live in the intestines that help move digested matter along the route smoothly. Antibiotics kill most coliform bacteria, having no abilities to distinguish between friend or foe. Eating yogurt, especially after a course of antibiotics brings the body back into equilibrium.

Stitchawl
What Stitchawl said. The doctor at Patient First also suggested that I take probiotics while I'm taking the antibiotics and for at least one week after. Both suggestions are things I'm already doing, however. I take a probiotic every day and keep yogurt on hand for snacks.
