How have you set it up for use as a media player, Monkey? I got one of these shortly before they ran out, and it seems pretty cool, but any hints on a nice clean way to set it up would be much appreciated!

Don't know about Google, but for Amazon, you can get a gift card sent in a greeting card starting at $10, free shipping.

That makes it the most expensive thing next to our TV and my laptop I have bought. Says back in stock on the 12th so hopefully I will get it around then. | |

In know Target sells the Google Play one in a $10 denomination. They have $10 and $25 by the cash registers. Not sure about Amazon. I've seen iTunes and prepaid cellular cards there as well.

I think the Fire HD 6 cannibalized sales of the Fire HD 7 and HDX 7 and Amazon has excess inventory they want to clear out. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the 7" models was discontinued.

I just ordered the 64 GB. $159 was just too cheap to pass up.

No doubt. Amazon has a hit on their hands with the 6" size. What they need to do now is to add the Fire HDX 6 to the lineup (better cameras, stereo speakers, increased resolution, better wifi, Mayday, etc). I'd definitely get one. I love the size.

I'm convince They are discontinuing the HDX this is the same pattern for previous readers before they pulled them. No one wants a tablet with blue light bleed. Had they went with normal LEDs the tablet would have been a success.

Plus they probably didn't sell a lot of them with the cellular. They need to clear those out.
