Aura HD Reading stats on side-loaded books?

So I'm looking at buying a kobo h2o and I came across a review that was vague on this, but if I side load a book (Say a book I bought from Amazon, stripped the DRM, converted to epub and then loaded on to the kobo) will I get the reading stats or will they only work for kobo purchased books?

What about Page Numbers?

All my books are stripped and sideloaded, and I get the page numbers and percentage read and time to finish stats.

All mine are converted to kepubs, though.

What about the graphs I've seen in a few videos? Time spent reading etc?

I'm not using those, because I don't want anyone tracking my reading but me.

I have that completely turned off.

I have no interest in reading stats myself, but as far as I know, the majority of stats, including chapter bar charts, are only available in kepubs bought directly from Kobo. Someone who uses reading stats may be able to be more specific.

On the other hand, page numbers are available in all epubs and all kepubs, no matter where you bought them or how you loaded them. With kepubs you can choose page number within chapter or within whole book. With epubs it's only within whole book.

That is correct. The in book stats are only displayed for purchased kepubs.

I have only side loaded books, converted to kepub by Calibre, on my H20. None have been purchased from Kobo. On the statitistics screen I get the progress, percentage wise, of the current book and the progress, percentage wise, of the current chapter I am on. It also gives the estimated reading time to finish the current book and the estimated reading time in the current chapter.
It shows how long I have been reading the current book. My average time per reading session in the current book. How many page turns I have made, and the average page turns per minute.
For the entire library, it shows what percentage of the entire library I have read, how many books I have finished, and the total amount of time I have spent reading.
Sorry this picture is so fuzzy, but the top 2/3s of screen is the current book, and the bottom third shows entire library stats:

From my experience, reading stats aren't available in-book for sideloaded kepubs. You can however access reading stats like ElWorm posted above but you have to exit the book you're reading first and access the separate Reading Stats app.

Here is a pic showing the in-book reading stats (it is from an older firmware version, but the latest firmware shows essentially the same information just with a different layout). AFAIK this is the the only part of the reading stats that is exclusive to synced (kobo-bought) kepubs.

The stats page shown in ElWorm's pic in post #7 is available for sideloaded books too (both kepub and epub), but the chapter progress bar only works for kepubs (it is still shown for epubs, but is not accurate).

Ahh...I did not know there was an in book statistics panel available for official Kobo purchased books! That is an interesting feature.

The Kobo extended plugin for calibre converts the books to kepub as the book is transferred (assuming this option is switched on in the plugin settings) which allowed the in-book reading stats to be displayed. Unfortunately, due to a lack of support from Kobo, the developer had to drop the firmware and no longer supports it.

Not really true. While the original author did stop active support, others in the community have and will continue to support this and release new versions as required.

Additionally, at one time the full eBook stats were available on side loaded kEpub format materials. Unfortunately Kobo now only supports these full stats on content downloaded directly from Kobo via either WiFi or Kobo Desktop.

There was a one-time special version of the Kobo Extended driver that continued to allow full stats on sideloaded kEpub format material; unfortunately in-order for this to work, content had to be located within the .kobo directory structure on the device, and whenever a sync was done with Kobo these sideloaded kepubs would be deleted from the device.

Author name is jgoguen, it's located in this forum Kobo Reader and is an attachment to a posting.

I've no idea at all if it's even compatible with current versions of calibre.
