I only needed two - one for a gift and one for me. All I need now is a TV set I can plug it into. I'll find one next week during Black Friday.

I much prefer it over Plex. I'm really curious to know if the Fire TV Stick can read from your PC also. You can get DVD/Bluray players for under $90 that will allow that wi-fi hookup (and do it quite well with a multitude of other features), but it would be great if the stick can do it. I'm anxious to get mine just so I can test that out, but my delivery date is still Dec 23rd. | |

Does Serviio have an app for the Fire TV (Stick), or would I have to fiddle with a generic DLNA app of some kind? I'm more than willing to test other media servers, but not if there's not an integrated client app that just "works" (and has a familiar playback interface across a range of devices). There's going to have to be some pretty amazing features to lure me away from the Plex ecosystem at this point, though. |

I have no idea if it'll work yet. Are you saying you know for certain that it works with Plex? I have both installed right now, just need to get the stick to fiddle with it. But I thought I remember reading on Amazon somewhere that it can't play mkv files or some other formats?

Yep. Downloaded the Plex app and I'm in like Flynn. I don't use mkv, but Plex will usually transcode on the fly to support whatever the underlying hardware supports. I'm an h.264 kinda guy, myself. This thing's going to make a great little travel/spare-room streamer. The Android app remote isn't all that intuitive, but one could get used to it pretty quickly, I think. |

My sticks will get here Sat. They weren't supposed to arrive until Mon. My Fire HD 6 is also being delivered Sat. I wonder if all 3 will be in the same box? edit: Same box. I just checked the tracking and both orders left the same warehouse at the same time. Looks like my HD 6 order prompted Amazon to toss the sticks into the same box to save money. got my fire stick today and its a nice piece of kit. I had some growing pains though...plugged in then entered wifi password. "can't connect to amazon, remove power for a few second". Did that, re-enter wifi password which then connects and "cannot download update". pull power again, now enter password again and download software update. Software update installs and doesn't hold wifi password so re-enter that. "can't connect to amazon, re-enter wifi password". Re-enter password and finally get everything going. As for the android app, connected to stick then disconnected halfway through an un-skippable tutorial. Re-connects and then disconnects halfway through an un-skippable tutorial. Re-connects and makes it through tutorial and as I am about to use it, it disconnects. I don't believe its my wifi network as none of my other devices have any issues. Overall though, I am happy with my $20 purchase. I am sure a few more updates (to the stick and app) will help stabilize things. |

I got my 2 yesterday, and they are great, especially for the price. However, sometimes the one I installed got hung up on Wifi issues, and at some point last night, I had to pull the power cord, because it refused to continue playing back my show. I already have a roku 3, and a chromecast, but I totally like the firestick's screensaver of all things, truly beautiful HD pictures. It turns my TV into a gorgeous photo frame, a bit nicer than what the Chromecast does. |
