Matching title and Author

Is there a quick way of searching for books in my library where for example the Author field is the same as the Title field ?

title:<the name> and authors:<the name>

should work if you know 'the name'

but I suspect you will need to resort to SQL using something like SQLspy

thank for that but unfortunately my question was badly posed I don't know what the <the name> part of the problem is. I frequently find books in my library where the title and author have the same value but can't predict what it will be I was hoping there was a search where matching author and title would get filtered

Sounds like something the Quality Check plugin might want to incorporate.

Usually a Title in the Authors section of the Tag Browser sticks out like a sore thumb.

If you set the Tag Browser to view by 'Popularity', those 'Singles will be even closer together.

That leaves 'Authors' in the 'Title' field

BTW where are this cr*p metadata coming from?

I've noticed that a fairly large number of books have the author name downloaded as the name of book. A lot of these seem to be ones that include goodreads as a choice. Not sure where exactly these are coming from though. I would put it as one in twenty or so over the last month or so.

If you are allowing metadata downloads to change title and author it pays to double check to ensure they have not changed to something you don't want.

You might want to install the add-on/plug-in QuarantineAndScrub. Misplaced and Malformed metadata is exactly what it is designed to fix. It saves an enormous amount of time. Among many other tools, it comes with over 16K Authors already in its database to aid it in parsing out the wheat from the chaff.

Thank you. I'm going to take a look at it. I don't do bulk metadata downloads as I'm anal and want to look at each one I update to put in only the tags I want to use.
