Image attachment size?

According to the MobileRead FAQs the maximum size for images in a post is 600x600 pixels. Does this include images (photos that I've taken) that I include as attachments? I couldn't find a distinction.

This is only an indirect answer: the maximum file size allowed for gif and png as attachments is 1 MB, for jpg 1,50 MB.

It is only for images embedded in a post, because it makes it difficult to read the post.

Correct. The size limit applies to images that are "in-line" in the post, not to attachments. You can post attachments that are as large as the system allows.

The Manage attachments screen has file size values listed for each file type.
Image size (pixels) still take priority.

[Images violate guidelines for size - MODERATOR]

I only accidentally found this thread about the guidelines; perhaps you could place it on a page of the site where it is more intuitive to find.

2.

In 2014 nearly all forums can resize images to fit. Why MobileRead can't do it? Which forum engine do you use?

If you attach an image and use the paperclip button in the editing toolbar it will diplay a thumbnail which expands as an on-page popup when clicked. Very reasonable, and I don't see why the forum should hand-hold my posts.

I don't really want my images changed out from under me, thankyouverymuch. I prefer to get it right myself or fix it properly.

Right at the bottom of the page there is a bar with links:

Contact Us - Mod - FAQ - Guidelines - Privacy - Archive - Top

Isn't that intuitive enought? That's where I'd expect such a piece of information to be.

As already mentioned, if you use the paperclip button, or the "Manage attachments" below the post in advanced mode, you will be attaching an image instead of inserting it, there are limitations in this case (except for filesize).

For your convenience, a link is provided at the bottom of every page to those guidelines, called........... "Guidelines."

You will see 12 numbered points [Under the sub-topic called "Posting Guidelines"] - that are very clearly numbered - and that detail such issues that Mobileread feels are relevant for all members to be aware of and to adhere to when creating posts.

As mentioned by another moderator, not only is this intuitive, but it is (as I mentioned previously), at the bottom of every page.

I had a hard time finding the image information the first time I ran into it as well.

Many forums offer size attributes in the [IMG] tag. Would be nice if we had that there.

Yes, I would like this as well. I was very surprised when I first tried using them years ago that it didn't work.
