Search History

This has puzzled me 'for ever'

Why is a Search via the Tag Browser not recorded in Search History ?

Is it an oversight or by design - if latter, it begs the question - why not ?

Because a Tag initiated search is predefined or easily duplicated? Wheras the typed in search may be complex or convoluted , therefor worth remembering.

This was created via the Tag Browser,

Code:
languages:"=French" or tags:"=Monet" or #status:"=70 Final"
To repeat it I have to

open the Tag browser - shift/alt/t
grab the mouse,
click on the open Languages glyph,
click on French,
click on the open Tags glyph,
click on the 'M' glyph,
shift/click on Monet,
click on the open Status glyph,
shift/click on Final

If a shift/click is inadvertently done as an unmodified/click then the previous selections are lost and have to be redone.

If all searches were put into history I could simply type ctrl/f and arrow down to the search, no need to open tag browser, no need to mess about with the mouse. Save search is not a real option, its more mouse clicking, reopening of tag browser and I have to remember to save any tag browser searches that I might want to come back to.

If I do a Similar Book search, say on Publisher or Series then it is recorded in Search History (note this is a single term search), but if I click on a Series or Publisher name in Book Details it is not recorded in Search History, yet the search string is exactly the same

Can the tag browser be used to create complex searches - yes

Is the tag browser used to create complex searches by most people - no

will adding every search created by the tag browser to the search history clutter up the search history for most people - yes

If you find yourself frequently creating the same complex search, save it, that is what saved searches are for.

The 'complex' searches I create with the tag browser are ad-hoc/transient, I might want to go back to them several times over a 2-3 day period or not all, after that - who knows. How about having an option to put all searches in search history (default would be - no)

On the issue of cluttering search history, when I'm in my Comics library, the Search history shows searches I made in my Journals and Main libraries, surely that qualifies as clutter. AFAIK Hans-Werner Sinn hasn't created any Manga, nor has Koji Aihara written anything on the Eurozone monetary system.

Just erase the last character of the search and retype it if you want it to be saved in history.

If your libraries are organized to never have overlapping searches, sure, if not, then you will like the fact that search history is not per library.
