And Apple is slow to move. Leaving the iPod touch 4 at 256MB while the iPhone 4 was bumped to 512MB, meant the iPod would "obsolete" quicker. I loved my iPt4, but I'm glad I got rid of it. Some of the apps I used are no longer updating and things will only get worse.

If Apple refreshes the iPod touch, I really hope they bump the RAM to 1GB; otherwise, those owners will find themselves in the same boat as iPt4 owners currently are.

I solved my iPod problem - I got rid of it. It was very handy moving from room-to-room and planting it in a dock. Now I'm left with docks and no iPod. I still use the docks for my Nexus 4 and Clip Zips. It's awkward compared to the iPod, but still usable.

I treat my old 3GS as an iPod now. 32GB of music and audiobooks is fine with me. I've got a car connector for it, and I can also run GPS apps on it. The phone can be a phone.

That's a great way to recycle an old phone. I use my Nexus 4 for streaming music, audiobooks, pocket tablet, and benchmarking with the GPS. I use a Samsung flip phone for phone calls.

Boy oh Boy Apple did it again. Apple must have felt that the iPad mini last year eclipsed their Flagship iPad Air as it has crippled the iPad Mini this year. I guess it was the same idea they want people to buy the new Air 2.

Crippled it in what way? What have they taken away from it that the 2nd gen iPad Retina Mini had?

Last year, the mini 2 was a mini version of the Air 1; this year, the mini 3 is still a mini version of the Air 1. It didn't get the same upgrades as the Air 2 (CPU, GPU, camera, etc).

zebradude is correct - Apple crippled it.

I tried to buy tapform for my ipad air on ios 7. No luck, if you didn't buy it earlier, you can't get it. It is now only available for ios 8. Weird. I'd update but I'm wrestling with my own ios 7 app that I hope to finish and put up on the apple store before apple says, once again, nope, can't sell an app this isn't ios xx. I think they are upgrading and leaving behind stuff too quickly.

Well, I've been on iPad3 since launch day, and I have the original non-retina iPad Mini. So either of the new ones would be an improvement for me. But I need a new a/c unit first.

Just took a look at the table comparison on the Apple site. The mini has only changed in two respects. a) can get gold if you want it and b) touchID. I dont want or need either of those so if I was buying, it would be last years model. I may just do that, a/c notwithstanding.

And iPhones are also much more expensive devices. (Though the price difference is seldom seen in the US because of all the carrier subsidizes)
