I just bought a new kindle ebook on Amazon.co.uk. When I tried to download to my PC I wasn't able to (even though it said it had downloaded). I spent a long time on Chat and was told my order was pending even though it showed all the download options. This was the first time I've ever encountered a problem. My account hasn't changed, my bank account is the same, CC info the same. But I noticed that the format on Amazon has changed. It used to be 'manage my Kindle.' Now it's 'manage my content.' Well I got tired of waiting to download what I paid for so I tried to download it directly to my Kindle Keyboard by wifi. Bingo!!! I didn't even need to go into Amazon to do it...it just appeared in my Kindle. But I still couldn't download to my PC. Hmmmm. got me thinking that the whole pending explanation was rubbish. What I think is that Amazon don't want people to have the option to download to their PC's any more (and perhaps reformat). So I had to use my Calibre and upload the ebook from my Kindle to my PC, then reformat it in Calibre and send to my Kindle. Real pain. Has anyone else encountered this download to PC problem recently?

Nope. Worked fine for me just now on the US site. Bought a (free) book and was able to download the azw3 fle from my content area immediately.
B&N recently removed that feature, as you might know. |

When you say download to your PC do you mean a direct download from the management page or download to Kindle for PC? If you mean Kindle for PC is the book compatible with that software? Not all Kindle books are compatible with all devices or apps, although it's not super common. Or I suppose it could just be some kind of glitch.
No problems here downloading books. |

What is "it?" If your browser said the book was downloaded, it should be on your PC somewhere. Perhaps the download location changed?

I tried to download to my PC. It always saved it to a folder called 'My Kindle Content.' Both I and the Chat assistant tried to download it to my PC repeatedly. It didn't go to 'My Kindle Content' nor anywhere else on my PC. I did a search of my PC several times. In the past I have had no problem downloading to my PC and transferring to my kindle via usb cable. Are there any others in the UK (who use the UK site) who have had this problem?

Did you use the "Kindle for PC" software or the "Kindle for Windows 8" app as the download destination?

Yes, I was trying to download with a web browser (Firefox) onto my PC (Windows XP). This has always worked fine in the past so I assume Amazon UK has made changes and it no longer downloads to my PC.

I'd look at your downloads link in Firefox (I'm using v32 for Windows 7, and in this version it's a little arrow on the top/right of the window) and see if they did indeed download. If it appears there, you can click the little folder on the right to open the containing folder.
I just used Firefox to download a couple of Amazon books onto my iMac . It dropped them on the desktop, and it took me forever to locate them. I couldn't find the title in a search of the drive, which was weird. I always use Chrome (on my iMac) for my Amazon downloads, and have never had an issue. |

Launch Firefox and access its download manager and see where Firefox chose to put the ebook. Last edited by dwig; 10-07-2014 at 03:20 PM. |

Since you have an eink Kindle, I find the best way to do what you want is not to use K4PC at all. Select the download option to transfer to your KK via computer. Much simpler.
