in my pw2, the level that i use to read in dark room is 10-11. In my pw1 the level similar was 6-7.

So, i guess that light level in h2o similar to 20% in kobo hd will be higher.

Two examples. The tiles A and B in the first one are the same shade of grey. The tiles in the center of the top and front face of the second one are the same color.

That is why good reviews measure brightness, contrast and such. Measure the overall speed of the device or how fast pageturns are, screen/touch responsiveness.

A bit more complicated is (screen) clouding, that is something you don't want as light should be evenly distributed/spread accross the screen.
